A Detailed Look
The steel enclosure of the NZXT HALE82 850W power supply features a black matte finish and incorporates a white fan. The enclosure measures only 160mm (6.3”) long, which is nice and compact for an 850W PSU. The HALE82 series PSUs use a single 120mm fan on the bottom for cooling. The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases) via an onboard speed controller. The Adda (AD1212UB-A70GL) fan is rated for 0.5A when operating on 12 VDC and incorporates dual ball-bearings. Note the plastic shroud that helps divert airflow thru the PSU and out the back.
The backside panel includes a power receptacle and On-Off switch along with an open grill structure that allows air to exhaust out of the power supply with minimal restriction and turbulence.
The NZXT HALE82 850W PSU comes with a good assortment of fixed and modular cables. The fixed cables are covered with plastic mesh sleeving while all of the modular cables are flat-ribbon style. The 850W model features six modular sockets that provide power to the peripheral devices and PCI-E cables.
• (1) ATX 20/24-pin
• (1) EPS12V/ATX12V 4+4 pin
• (2) PCI Express with two 8-pin (6+2) connectors
Modular Flat-Ribbon Cables:
• (1) PCI Express with two 8-pin (6+2) connectors
• (1) EPS12V/ATX12V 8-pin
• (2) Peripheral Molex and FDD with 3 connectors each
• (2) Serial ATA with 3 connectors each
• (1) Serial ATA with 2 connectors
