Final Thoughts and Conclusions

Kingwin has established themselves as a major player in the PC power supply industry and their new Lazer Platinum Series LZP-1000 power supply lived up to our expectations. The LZP-1000 is the fifth and most powerful unit in the Lazer Platinum Series. It demonstrated excellent efficiency, very good voltage regulation, and clean DC outputs. It is also a very quiet power supply, especially for a unit capable of delivering 1,000 watts thanks to Kingwin’s ECO Intelligent Thermal Control system and two-position Thermal Control switch. Add to this a good assortment of fixed and modular cables, universal AC input with Active PFC, a 5-year warranty, with a selling price of $229.99 USD (February 2012) and you have a 1kW power supply that is hard not to like.

• 1,000W continuous DC output
• Very good efficiency (80Plus Platinum)
• Very good voltage regulation
• Clean DC outputs (low AC ripple)
• Very quiet at all but the highest power levels
• 2-Position Thermal Control Switch allows operating semi-fanless mode
• Single +12V output can deliver up to 83A (996W)
• Six PCI-E connectors can support multiple high-end graphic adapters
• Dual EPS connectors (8-pin and 4+4-pin)
• Active PFC with universal AC input
• Good value for a 1000W PSU

Minor Weaknesses:
• Struggled a little to meet 80Plus Platinum efficiency at elevated, real-world operating temperatures (40°C) while operating on 115 VAC
