HDTune 4.01
HDTune tests a similar level of features that HDTach does, but with a slightly different access pattern and thus can provide us with an additional set of benchmark numbers to compare between storage configurations. Here we can get the minimum, maximum and average transfer rates as well as the burst rates and access times. CPU utilization has proven negligible with modern processing horsepower, and is no longer included.
This test normally shows just how inconsistent burst testing an SSD can be, but since burst tests are sequential in nature, the Vertex 4 repeated its sequential read issue.
More sequential read issues with the Vertex 4 made it perform sub-par and it was unable to saturate SATA 6Gb/sec with 8MB block sequential reads. We really hope to see sequential performance improve with further updates.
What I take away the most
What I take away the most from this review is how impressive the Samsung 830 series really is. I cannot think of a better SSD to recommend than the Samsung drives.
Also, could you please
Also, could you please include the Crucial M4 if possible in future reviews? It could at least represent the Marvell controller against the Sandforce and Indilinx, which would be great. I’ll stop spamming the comments now!
2nd this request especially
2nd this request especially since these are down to just over a buck a gig for the 512’s.
Thanks
