A Detailed Look

The SilverStone Strider Gold Evolution 1000W power supply enclosure is painted a hammertone matte black and measures 180mm (7.2”) deep. It uses a single 139mm Air Penetrator fan on the bottom for cooling. The fan is made by Honghua (HA1425M12F-Z) and incorporates fluid dynamic bearings for long life and quiet operation. The fan is rated for 0.36A (4.3W) at 12V.

The Strider Gold Evolution PSU does not have a master On-Off switch on the back panel. There is of course an AC receptacle along with an open honeycomb grill that allows the exhaust air to exit the power supply with little resistance.

Around on the other end, the front panel incorporates 11 modular cable connectors. They are color coded and keyed so only the proper cables will plug into their corresponding sockets.

The SilverStone Strider Gold Evolution 1000W power supply comes with an excellent assortment of all modular cables and connectors. All of the cables are covered with braided plastic mesh sleeving. The cables range in length from approximately 21.5" to 29" long (to the first connector). The power supply package includes four PCI-E cables with a total of six 6+2-pin PCI-E connectors attached to support multiple, high-end graphics cards. Each PCI-E cable includes a filter capacitor on the PSU end to eliminate the buzzing noise that is sometimes experienced with various graphic card combinations.

The SilverStone FF141 magnetic fan filter is designed to go over the PSU’s air intake grill to keep the dust bunnies out. Tiny magnets imbedded into the plastic frame hold the filter in place; no screws required.
