Final Thoughts and Conclusions

The Enermax Platimax 1000W power supply delivers very good efficiency with good voltage regulation and is eco-friendly by meeting the new ErP Lot 6 standby efficiency criteria. Under normal operating conditions the power supply is very quiet, virtually silent thanks to Enermax’s Twister bearing fan and well tuned speed control circuit. However, the AC ripple on the DC outputs was a little higher than we like to see on a high-end, premium priced power supply but was well within the recommended ATX guidelines. The Platimax 1000W PSU comes with a good assortment of fixed and modular cables that can support the latest CPUs and multiple, high-end video cards along with active PFC, universal AC input, and a 5-year warranty.

The Enermax Platimax 1000W power supply is currently available and selling for around $259.99 USD, which is a little expensive considering the stiff competition in this market and some very competent competitors that are selling for less (1000W Platinum PSUs from Antec, Kingwin, Seasonic, SilverStone, and XFX).

Strengths:
• Up to 1000W DC output, rated at 50°C
• Very good efficiency (80Plus Platinum certified)
• Complies with ErP Lot 6 standby efficiency criteria
• Very good voltage regulation on all the DC outputs
• Very quiet during normal operation
• Single +12V output up to 83A (996W)
• Six PCI-E connectors for multiple graphics card support
• Two EPS connectors for dual CPU support
• Good assortment of fixed and modular cables
• Universal AC input with Active PFC
• 5-Year warranty

Weaknesses:
• Relatively expensive compared to the competition
• AC ripple on the DC outputs a little higher than we would like to see
