A Detailed Look from the Outside
The SilverStone GD07 features an aluminum lockable front door that conceals the front panel mounted drives and I/O panel. On the inside, the front panel is all black plastic. The main power button can even be locked-out if desired for security.
There are four 5.25” drive bays on the front panel; two in a horizontal orientation towards the upper right and two on the left side in a vertical orientation.
The front I/O panel contains:
• (2) USB 3.0 ports
• Headphones Out
• Microphone In
• Power and HDD activity LEDs
• Main Power button
• Reset button
Note the sliding black plastic tab locking mechanism for locking out the main power on-off button. When engaged, you have to unlock and open the front door to turn on (or off) the HTPC/server.
The steel top panel is secured with two screws at the back and then slides off. It is plain except for a 3” x 5.5” exhaust grill opening near the back.
These guys actually sit down
These guys actually sit down and design a case. The side mounted fans are a fantastic idea. Maybe they should patent that like Apple patented the rectangle.
