I don’t see how to get windows 8 shipped for 40 bucks.
It’s the download version
It’s the download version only that’s $40, the disc version is still $70. This isn’t really a sale, just the same $40 upgrade offer they’ve been offering.
I did the $40 upgrade method myself from the Release Preview and it went fine. There was a small download for the installer (less than 100MB IIRC?) once I ran that it took about 20 minutes while it downloading the remaining data and 10 minutes to complete the install. Half an hour total. It even had drivers for most of my hardware, the only standard part missing a driver was my AMD Radeon 6850 which was working fine with the generic driver but needed the Catalyst software to turn off the damn underscan on my TV.
