Powered by the upcoming Tegra 4 SoC, Shield is an Android-powered device built into the form of a gaming controller with a 5-in display attached. Not only will it play Android games in a new and interesting way but NVIDIA has promised the ability to stream PC games from your GeForce-powered desktop directly to your wireless device!
We got our hands on the prototypes of the Shield and got to see the build quality, demo the Android games and even test out the PC game streaming technology.

I am curious about PC remote access, which seemed to be available during the press conference. Such as accessing video/media remotely or a little more extreme as launch software such as web browser to do emails or anything available on that PC (e.i. programming, 3D modeling, etc)
Then, back to the PC gaming (other than Steam) and possibly M$ Xbox 360.
Live streaming from CES… I
Live streaming from CES… I feel the need to laugh. 😉
I’ll be waiting for the recorded version as well.
I’m looking forward to the
I’m looking forward to the official review. I think that if they are going to charge a premium price it will be a failed attempt. If they can swing $200-$250-they will move units. Great webcast though, thanks guys!
Scotty, can you get the
Scotty, can you get the Shield up!?
so Ryan having able to play
so Ryan having able to play around with the device for a bit what is your first impression or thoughts about it?
So when can we hack it?
So when can we hack it?
This seems like a question
This seems like a question Nvidia might not want to answer, but I heard them talking a lot about the GeForce experience for optimizing the games….. But do you think when it launches that Sheild will be able to stream games from a PC running an AMD card?
look at the recommendation
look at the recommendation list. the streaming are using media decoder that only exist in kepler hardware. (if i’m not mistaken they called it as NVENC). so this shield streaming is not even available for GeForce 500 series and below. this NVENC is one of the very reason why they able to reduce the latency of the controller to the game
they said it was for nVidia
they said it was for nVidia cards only. Which probably cause something they do in the drivers for performance reasons that won’t be in AMD cards.
If nVidia can say sell it
If nVidia can say sell it around cost, cause if it limited to to the nvidia gpu’s. It would help move those cards as well. if its 300$ or less, personally 200$ would be nuts if could get it that cheap.
