Ice Storm and Cloud Gate Results

The first thing to note here is that the scores are very high – running a benchmark that can be run on phones on a system with a pair of Radeon HD 7970s is kind of nuts, but we had to try it at least once.  But, as you can tell, with only 15% between a PAIR of HD 7970s in CrossFire and a single HD 7870, this is very CPU bound.

Isolating just the graphics portions show a bit more of a gap between the highest end configurations and the lower end but when our frame rates are hitting 1500, we are over reaching quite a bit!

The performance window between the HD 7970s in CrossFire and the single HD 7870 is above 40% here so while the gap is higher, Cloud Gate is still not really push the performance of our discrete cards.  We are running tests on these tests with some integrated solutions this week and will report back with results.

The individual graphics tests do some some noticeable differences in performance – check out the gap between the Radeon HD 7770 and the pair of HD 7970s.  Going from 81 FPS to 404 FPS is pretty big jump – about 5x – but we are still hitting above our weight in Cloud Gate.
