3DMark, 3DMark11, Unigine Heaven

Now that we have taken a look at our gaming tests using our Frame Rating metrics and testing methods, we are including a set of tests from more standard benchmarks like 3DMark 11, Unigine Heaven and the newer 3DMark benchmark.

I consider these tests to be somewhat of a "best case" for all the cards in our comparison.  We aren't using our frame capture system, we aren't measuring frame latency, nothing like that; I think this should give you an idea of graphics performance if each vendor had the best result for each game.

3DMark11 puts the GTX 770 slightly ahead of both the GTX 680 and the Radeon HD 7970 – an edge of 11% over the AMD offering.

Interesting results here!  At the lower quality settings the GTX 770 is actually a bit behind the HD 7970 GHz Edition card (3.7) but at the Extreme preset the two cards are essentially showing identical graphics scores.

Results in the tessellation heavy Heaven engine show the edge going to the GTX 770 over the Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition – 9.5% at the Normal preset and 15.9% at the Extreme settings.
