Testing Setup and SiSoft Sandra

For this review of the Intel Core i7-4770K we updated our entire suite of CPU benchmarks and thus we have a new set of results to present.  I was able to run the new tests on Haswell, Ivy Bridge, Sandy Bridge, Sandy Bridge-E, Vishera and Trinity processors for a could comparison group.

SiSoft Sandra 2013 SP3a

The latest version of SiSoft Sandra offers up a lot of new features including GPU performance, OpenCL, etc.

The Haswell Review - Intel Core i7-4770K Performance and Architecture - Processors 12

Raw CPU results put the Haswell CPU 6-8% ahead of the IVB 3770K but synthetic multimedia performance is 57% faster thanks to new instructions like AVX2.  Oddly, even using the same memory and timings, the 4770K ran at lower memroy bandwidth levels; we might have found a bug with our Z87 motherboard and timings / settings for memory.
