A new ultrathin laptop for business users has appeared on Lenovo’s website. Called the Lenovo ThinkPad T440S, it is an Intel 4th Generation Core "Haswell"-powered machine running Windows 8.
The ThinkPad T440S features a magnesium and carbon fiber chassis that is 21mm thick. It has a full size, spill resistant, keyboard with multimedia function keys, a TrackPoint, and a multi-touch trackpad. The T440S has a 14” display with optional multi-touch and a resolution of 1920 x 1080.
This laptop will start at 3.5 pounds. It can be configured with two 3-cell batteries with one internal and one removable battery. In this configuration, users can swap out the removable battery for a spare without powering down the system (a technology Lenovo calls Power Bridge). Other features include a 720p webcam with dual noise canceling mics.
IO includes three USB 3.0 ports, one Mini DisplayPort and one VGA video output, and a SD card reader. The T440S also comes equipped with an NFC radio.
Unfortunately, additional specifications and pricing data is not yet listed on the Lenovo site. If you are a business user in need of a thin and light laptop, keep a lookout on this product page for more information as the laptop gets closer to release.
As a owner of the T430 I like
As a owner of the T430 I like the increased screen resolution but, the removal of the mouse buttons was a bad decision. Some of use buy Thinkpads for tactile response and that applies to the keyboard and the mouse. As long as the keyboard has not been changed for the worse I can see this being a nice notebook. Oh and I hope the WIFI bug is fixed.
Agreed on the mouse. Bring
Agreed on the mouse. Bring back the buttons, but, the 1080 IPS screen might make up for it! Currently a T420s user and it has the worse screen of any laptop I have ever used in the last 15 years.
Edit.
I think I see another fail. No think light? there has to be a think light!! and where are the speakers? probably crappy front firing instead of top firing, so those will be worthless also.
Come on lenovo, you take one step forward on something great (screen) but two steps back on other stuff (3 steps in this case for mouse, speakers and think light)
Hmm, maybe it has backlit keys?
One last gripe. Yes, vga is still a must, but you could not still throw in an HMDI connection?????
I understand the urge to pass
I understand the urge to pass up every aspect of your product as a well thought-out feature, but everything about that freakish battery setup is just plain wrong and the fact that they’ve given it a special name, makes it worse.
All laptops meant to be used for actual work should have big, easily removable batteries period. Lenovo is ruining the ThinkPad brand. It has been doing that for a while now.
They have pulled the
They have pulled the spec.
Lenovo changeover will be by October from what I’ve been told. If you look at Lenovo’s launch cycle for Thinkpad it has always been very late in the year compared to Intel.
As of 2 weeks ago
-X240s is currently in a near final state
-T440 is in a more raw state with a prototype casing
Lenovo will be only using Intel 7260AC 2×2 adapters for their AC offering in Haswell Thinkpad, no BRCM/QCA AC adapters
Lenovo are not discussing any specs whatsoever and the only official information on the 40 series Thinkpads are physical demos to press at Haswell launch time and the model numbers listed in the Lenovo Catalog.
We all know how much Ryan loves his Thinkpad X series.
As a sneak peek for the PCPER community, here is a near final X240s that I played with at Haswell launch a few weeks ago. Couldn’t take photos of the T440.

S has LAN, VGA!, DP but no ODD IIRC
If you want a removable battery, dont buy the ‘s’ version of a thinkpad or special thinkpads, common sense.

A question that is likely to respond to Apple in the coming week is whether and when the iPhone 5S and 5c iphone wireless charging coming to the Chinese market and that mobile operators will offer the device. http://www.myefox.pl/popular/iphone-5c-wireless-charging.html, on 11 September Apple has invited to a special event to Beijing. Apple uses this press conference in order to create clarity?
