3DMark and Unigine Heaven

Now that we have taken a look at our gaming tests using our Frame Rating metrics and testing methods, we are including a set of tests from more standard benchmarks like Unigine Heaven and the newer 3DMark benchmark.

I consider these tests to be somewhat of a "best case" for all the cards in our comparison.  We aren't using our frame capture system, we aren't measuring frame latency, nothing like that; I think this should give you an idea of graphics performance if each vendor had the best result for each game.

Clearly the AMD Radeon R9 290X flexes some muscle in 3DMark as it jumps ahead of both the GTX 780 and GTX Titan cards from NVIDIA based on GK110.  At the Extreme preset, the R9 290X's graphics score is actually 8% faster than Titan and 12% faster than the 780s.

NVIDIA is still king of tessellation and that is proven by reversing the trends set on the previous pages and getting a win for the GTX 780 and GTX Titan over the R9 290X!
