Forget Crysis, if you want to hammer your PC pick up ARMA III and try turning up the settings! Even an i7-3770K @ 4.8GHz and GTX 780's in SLI struggle to render this game with all the graphical bells and whistles turned on. The close up landscapes and objects are gorgeous with high quality textures but to truly get into the feel of the game you need to be able to turn up the veiw distance and number of displayed objects as you can see from [H]ard|OCP's screenshots below. [H] spent ia bit of time breaking down the best playable settings for numerous GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD as well as showing you the impact that MSAA and PPAA has on the visual quality as well as your PCs performance. If you want to show off the superiority of a high end gaming machine then this is the game for you.
"ARMA III is our focus point for today. It features a large open world environment designed on a massive continent measuring 270 square kilometers. To go along side this massive continent is a max visibility range of 20km. Combine this with ARMA III's impressive looking graphics and we have a game that demands performance."

Devs and Designers of ARMA
Devs and Designers of ARMA III pushed this game a bit far,
For those PC gamers (the majority) only play games on a single
full HD monitor on a mix of mid level and hi level video
cards from nNvidia and AMD, do yo think those gamers would set
ARMA III’s settings to its very highest even if some of them
play games on SLI using two Titan? Its like saying to Gamers
“HEY FUCK CRYSIS 3, ARMA III IS THE NEW EYE CANDY AND
YOU CANNOT ENJOY THIS GAME EVEN IF YOU’RE ON A VERY HI END
VIDEO CARD ON XFIRE OR SLI”…. SO what’s the damn point?..
OH I GET IT.. ITS NOT A FREAKIN 1ST person shooter game…
ITS A BENCHMARKING TOOL that Devs and designers of ARMA III
spent a lot of money only to be used as benchy tool… 🙂
If you want to play all games
If you want to play all games at their “highest” quality level, get a console. MilSim games have demanded high performance machines since Operation Flashpoint was released back in 2001. If you think all hardware could run ARMA II upon release you’re just lying to yourself. Come back in two years and you’ll be able to play the game on midrange hardware without any issues.
It’s simulator. You want to
It’s simulator. You want to have dumb shooters, which runs on ancient consoles, go back to CoD and co on ancient console and leave us who want to have Maximum Graphics/Simulation alone.
Point is to push both gaming and tech forward. I doubt you were here in 90s (Quakes, Doom,…) or early 2000s (Doom 3, Starlancer, I-War 2) and you appear to missed Crysis, Metro 2033/Last Light.
By your logic, we should
By your logic, we should never improve the graphics of a game.
If a video card can run a game at max graphics, nvidia has no reason improve their card.
We NEED games like this, games like this push the entire industry forward.
You’re missing the Point tho
You’re missing the Point tho this no offense to anyone. IMO, its not about improvements for the long run gaming as far as this game is concerned its already a given fact, my point is eventho this if a “MILSIM” game, devs and designers of ARMA III didnt designed this for a long term profit maker and in the next two years moreover, by that time they already have a new version of this, do you think after two years a mid level video card can still play this game at its very highest setting? I dont think so, judging by the amount of tessellation and the amount of geometry of each object in the game chances are it would take a lot of GPU rendering power to play this game to its highest settings and by that time also, other game devs have already released different more visually appealing 1st shooter game that highly competes the “ARMA” title to so, talking about sales and profit, where this game stands?.. Where as of now you cant even play this game to its highest setting even if you own two Titans???
Oh by the way, aside from my old i7 870 4ghz oc’d Lynfield rig with an unlocked and oc’d Radeon 6950 2g HD, im also a proud owner of a water cooled 4.3ghz oc’d Ivy 4930k with two GTX770 factory oc’d video cards and all visuals are thrown on a single Dell U2713H 2560×1440 IPS monitor.
Not very true, ARMA3 is here
Not very true, ARMA3 is here for the longterm. since 2001 (thats 12 years now…) this is only the 3th generation of this game engine… Compare that to all the other shitty shooters available to your on the free market.
This game has been build to last. Furthermore almost the same engine is used for VBS the official simulator used to train soldier, guess what kinda hardware they have at their disposal. And my guess is that this is where the real money is for BIS. That the general public is able to get their hands on this engine at all might be only for bug-testing or something, who knows what is their internal strategy ?
Anyway i’m very happy with what BIS delivered and i will be happily playing this game for the next 5years !! Thanks guy’s and thumbs up !!
PS if you think Arma3 is pushing it, try BeamNG and spawn about 10 vehicles, this will kill processing power of any hardware you might have… Simulation takes CPU power, no way to avoid that.
In addition, im not against
In addition, im not against this game, its just that i dont see the point why the devs designed this game that even a rich pc enthusiast who owns two Titans for example cant even maxed out the settings to fully enjoy the visuals? What more
if you’re gaming on multiple monitors? CRYSIS 3 is not a patsy 1st person shooter game actually its one of the most demanding pc game out today but you can play it with its settings maxed out if you own a single Titan or GTX780 or GTX680 or Rad 7970 ghz ed. on a full HD monitor.
