OCZ's newest contribution to the SSD market is the Vector 150 with 19nm flash and a tiny footprint perfect for today's ultra-mobile devices. One of the most welcome advances in this family is increased over-provisioning of flash storage which allows increased lifespan by letting the drive retire more flash as it slowly becomes unusable without shrinking the size of the drive. As far as the performance goes it beats out almost all previous drives we have seen and while The Tech Report is a little worried about the lifetime of the Barefoot controller the 5 year warranty mitigates that concern somewhat.
You can also see how well it survived Al's torture testing here.
"There's a new SSD in town. OCZ's Vector 150 combines the Indilinx Barefoot 3 controller with 19-nm Toshiba NAND and additional spare area. We take a closer look at how it measures up."

I can’t wait until the 120gb drives are $30. Then i’ll get one. Before that, though, they’re not worth it to me.

After going through some of this with OCZ, one of the comments at Tech Report stuck out to me:
dme123: “I can quite honestly say that after the dozens of drive failures and then their RMA replacements dying too I would trust my data on floppy discs before I put it on an OCZ drive. If you were to give me one of these I would throw it in the bin before using it or allowing a friend or colleague to use it.
Please OCZ, please, just die and spare some poor bastards from picking up your drives as a “deal” and losing their family photos and other precious data. With so many superb competitors making fast, reliable and cheap SSD drives there is no reason in the world to buy an OCZ product. I actually want to laugh out loud when I see them trying to break into the enterprise space with their server products.”
Why would they save their
Why would they save their family photos or precious data on an SSD at all?
I would hope most Users and Enthusiasts would nightly backup their SSD to a Data hard drive, as well. With SSDs of any brand.
