GPU – GTX 760 has been the
GPU – GTX 760 has been the best value in graphics since it's launch. It has been widely available for under msrp of 250 and was as low as 200 for weeks from newegg. It also has amazing sli performance that trumps much more expensive options like 290x and 780ti at 2560×1440. The idea that the r9 would even be considered is a joke IMO. I would chalk up the r9 as one of the biggest fails of 2013. You cannot ignore the fact that you can't get them for anywhere near msrp and that they are terrible values at the prices they are available at. The only good thing about r9 was that it made nvidia drop prices on their higher margin products, but note that they didn't have to drop 760 prices because it was still a great value. CPU – haswell, it's not all about the marginal performance gains. Haswell has allowed for 10+ hour battery life on ultrabooks and the MacBook Air and that is huge. Bay trail is the new atom – it's very nice, but definitely not best CPU of the year – it's only in like one product anyway. Mobo – asus z87 ws – killer feature set for a reasonable price Case – 750d Storage – 840 evo Best price drop – again, it's a joke that you would ever consider the r9 since you can't get them for anywhere near msrp. I'd give it to 4k TVs with the runner-up being GTX 770 or 780. Phone – GS4 – marginal improvement, but still the best phone. Tablet – iPad air – marginal improvement, but still the best tablet. T100 is NOT a mobile device. It's a modern netbook. Windows tablets are the worst! Other – gsync – granted I've never seen it, but given how excited reviewers are, this is the new technology that I'm most excited about. Best trend – 4k Worst trend – freemium games. Runners up would be GPU shortages due to mining and the increase of phones and tablets with sealed batteries and storage.
