Included Accessories

In addition to the EXT-440CU unit, Koolance included a variety of other components and hardware to construct a full cooling loop.

EXT-440CU Liquid Cooling System

The user manual for the EXT-440CU unit covers everything from setup and install to maintenance and troubleshooting issues. Koolance made sure to explain all aspects of the units operation with tables and illustrations provided to enhance the information presentation.

Koolance includes a riser card to power the external unit and provide temperature and fan speed data to the external unit. Data and power are passed to the external unit from the riser card via the included serial cable, which plugs into the riser card and the port on the back of the external unit.

The riser card logic board contains headers supporting up to three temperature diodes and two three pin fan connectors. The power switch header connects to the mother board power switch header allowing for unit initiated system shutdown if any of the measured temperature exceeds the user defined alarm temperatures. The slot adapter contains two pass through holes for the tubing between the unit and the system cooling blocks.

The riser card includes a total of three temperature diodes, a male MOLEX power connector, and a power pass through cable to connect between the motherboard and the case power button. The MOLEX connector connects directly to a cable from the PSU to power the unit.

CPU-380I CPU Water Block

Koolance includes an illustrated instruction sheet with the block with detailed information on block mounting and maintenance.

To mount the CPU block to the motherboard, Koolance includes two backplates, one for LGA 1150/1155 boards and the other for all other motherboards. The included silicon gasket can be used with both backplates. Two sets of uprights are included, the double ended used with the stock LGA 2011 backplate and the others used in conjunction with the Koolance provided backplates. Koolance also includes plastic washers to protect the upper surface of the motherboard, lock nuts to fix the uprights in place, springs and thumbscrews to hold the block in place, thermal compound, an allen wrench to chnage out the block top plate, and metallic tape for use with the included temperature diodes.

The Koolance provided backplate and uprights use a slotted design to keep the upright secure while installing the CPU block to the mount. The wings on the upright fit in the slots in the upright hole on the baseplate, locking the upright in place to eliminate upright rotation.

The thumbscrews have a recessed area in which the spring sits, ensuring that the spring exerts consistent and maximum downward pressure on the block. This pocket also minimizes the possibility of the spring slipping out from under the thumbscrew.

Miscellaneous Hardware

Koolance bundled in a set of their compression barbs for connecting the EXT-440CU to the CPU-380I waterblock. The compression fittings are black aluminum for strength, and powder-coated for scratch resistance. Each barb has flat sections on opposite sides, enabling easy use of a wrench to tighten the inner barb and outer fitting in place.

For tubing, Koolance included 10 feet of their 3/8 inch by 5/8 inch clear tubing. The tubing is UV reactive as well.

To fill the cooling loop, Koolance provided a 750ml bottle of their blue colored LIQ-702 high performance coolant. The coolant is non-reactive and its color did not fade during use.

Additionally, Koolance included a case window appliqué featuring their corporate logo.
