Testing Configuration and Benchmarks Used
To verify that the cooler kit operates up to specs, the SilverStone Tundra Series TD02 liquid cooler was tested with the CPU running in both stock and at a known stable overclocking speed using both Z77-based and Z87-based motherboards, so that comparative results could be provided for both Ivy Bridge and Haswell-based systems. The results are presented for the cooling kit under review as well as the XSPC Raystorm 750 EX240 water cooling kit, Corsair H100i water cooler, and the Thermalright SilverArrow SB-E air cooler for performance comparison purposes. The benchmark tests used should give you a good understanding of the cooler's capabilities so that you, the reader, can make a more informed purchasing decision. The comparison coolers were selected based on their superior performance capabilities.

The 64-bit Windows 7 based test bench used for LGA1155 board testing includes an Intel Core i5-3570K CPU, 8GB of DDR3-2133 memory, an AMD Radeon 5870 1GB video card, and an Intel 520 240GB SSD drive. Using the selected components gives us the ability to demonstrate the cooling system's capabilities rather than that of the system components.

So for just cooling
So for just cooling performance, I am not seeing a lot of reasons to go for these AIO water units. The Silver Arrow seems to be just as good as any of them.
The silver arrow is massive
The silver arrow is massive you can fit an AIO liquid cooler in a lot of cases that won’t handle a big air cooler. They are great for lan boxes as you don’t have all the weight hanging off the motherboard same applies to system builders like ibuypower and falcon northwest its much safer to ship a system with an AIO vs a big air cooler. Plus they don’t block your ram slots its a matter of personal preference.

why isn’t watercooling winning here?
Water cooling does win if you
Water cooling does win if you take into account the noise that the high-end air cooler generates.
Also, high-end water cooling is more of a hobby thing. I have been building custom kits for years because its what I like to do, and you do get lower temps, but there is also a point of diminishing returns with any cooler because of the cooling medium used as well as the heat dissipation medium…

You mention this is all metal where most are combination of metal and pvc or acrylic. Do you know how the weight of the others compares to this one? Looks like this is over 3 lbs which doesn’t sound too bad.
Occasionally when I’m building custom handrails, I’ll have customers concerned with the weight. Sometimes a bit of extra weight can lead to better durability. Might be the case here too.
