PC Gamer reports that Jason Holtman has left Microsoft after being there just six months. Little is known about his departure, or even what he accomplished at Microsoft beyond his "Head of PC Gaming and Entertainment Strategy" title, but the publication hopes to have more details soon.
It does appear as if he chose to leave.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Holtman served as the director of business development for seven years at Valve. He is credited with a lot of Steam's success, from content deals to their wildly successful "Summer Sales".
We do not really have much beyond that, yet.
Readers, how do you think this reflect Microsoft's stance toward PC gaming?
New CEO putn that hammer
New CEO putn that hammer down, we’ll have to wait and see.
I would be surprised if we
I would be surprised if we got anymore detail then what we have currently about the departure.
Could be one of those funding shifts within the company where he felt his department wasn’t being properly supported. However, it could be the new CEO taking out the people he felt were incompetent under Balmer.
In situations like these it is not uncommon for different department heads to be removed simply because there is a regime change but we the consumer are lead to believe they left voluntarily. It saves face for both parties and in the computer field they could be working with him again assuming he takes on a position at a partner company in the industry.
What stance?
What stance?
I think this either means
I think this either means Microsoft wouldn’t pay him enough to keep him or they couldn’t/wouldn’t give him enough leeway and or power to implement his plan for pc.
Either way the fact that this guy has a track record of success boded well for ms pc plans and now that he’s gone and ms has a new ceo dampens the mood as far as pc gaming is concerned. It makes it appear like ms has more pressing concerns which they do.
