Final Thoughts and Conclusions
Cooler Master’s new V Series brings to market three excellent power supplies for the PC enthusiast. The Cooler Master V850W PSU demonstrated outstanding voltage regulation and very good efficiency along with delivering clean DC outputs. It is also a quiet power supply, especially at low to mid power levels thanks to CM’s choice of a high-quality Protechnic fan that incorporates a Fluid Dynamic Bearing.

Cooler Master selected Seasonic to be the OEM for the V Series and their now classic design eliminates most of the internal bridge wiring by placing the two DC-to-DC converter boards right on the modular cable DC connector board, which along with the LLC resonant design helps boost efficiency. Our only minor complaint is with the modular cable package included with the power supply; to be truly outstanding we would like to see a second EPS connector and PCI-E connectors on dedicated cables instead of putting two in parallel on one cable. Overall the Cooler Master V850 PSU proved to be an excellent new power supply and worthy of consideration for your next high-end build!
And if you are looking for a power supply that is semi-modular in either 550W or 650W, check out the Cooler Master VSM Series (V550 and V650).
The Cooler Master V Series 850W power supply is competitively priced and is currently selling for $169.99 USD (newegg.com, March 2014).
