The Contender: Cooler Master’s Hyper 212 EVO

The Hyper 212 EVO arrives in the slick packaging of a much more expensive part, and certainly doesn't look like a $35 cooler!

The contents are housed in a clear plastic tray, and the usual assortment of mounting hardware is included along with Cooler Master's thermal paste.

The cooler is the single tower design, and rather tall at 159mm (6.3"). Many small form-factor cases won't allow this height, but most standard cases are accomidating of a taller cooler these days.

Looking at the base we see four copper heat pipes which will all be making direct contact with the CPU.

The installation procedure is simple, and the connection to the processor is very good with an X-shaped bracket which tightens the cooler against the surface evenly.

The Hyper 212 EVO towers over the mATX motherboard on the test system

Now let's take a look at the benchmarks!
