Caching Performance

Caching Performance

First a look at PCMark Vantage runs. We perform three passes on each Hybrid solution. Ideally the first pass will run at near HDD (uncached) speed, while the second and third passes will evaluate cached performance. So long as the data remains cached, performance should remain at the higher level.

Here we see the increased raw throughput of the larger disk in the 4TB SSHD gives it additional first-run performance as compared to other solutions. It appears the caching controller is identical to that of the 2.5" 500GB SSHD, as we can see the second and third runs are nearly identical between those two units. The Toshiba toggle-mode flash appears to be responsible for higher ultimate throughput of the top two models. The ultimate ratings of the bottom three charts are limited by the SSD 311 and Momentus XT G1 having only an SATA 3GB/sec interface.
