Hardware Canucks have just let out AMD's secret on a new take on a Vishera processor, the FX-9590 which will come with a Cooler Master Seidon 120 AIO LCS which will add $40 to the original $320 price tag. The base clock of the 8 CPUs will still be 4.7GHz, 5GHz boost buit with the TDP of 219W the watercooler should allow the boost clock to be maintained longer. If you ever planned on overclocking the FX-9590 but never picked it up because of the challenge of cooling it, then here is your chance.

I don’t see what the point is in releasing another 8 core processor now that they have HSA out. It’s pointless!
A big number of the workloads that can make use of 8 CPUs can be accelerated on GCN’s hundreds of 16-wide vector execution pipelines.
Physics simulation and many AI workloads can be accelerated substantially if compiled to run on top of HSA and utilize the GPU part of the APU. Now that you have shared memory space and straightforward shared execution of threads without context switching, why not to put all those teraflops of execution resources to good use?

Well if they take the revenue from this and apply it to their x86 microarchitecture complete re-engineering project then it may do some good. This will sale to the high end gamers/overclockers!
If AMD really wants to have a discrete system for future low latency gaming they should consider bringing their gaming APUs to a discrete PCI card based system, a system with the CPUs and GPU sharing the same DIE, and the GPU portion with R9 290x or higher GPU core count, and their best x86 CPU cores. Pair the CPU and GPU with a large on Die RAM, and a Gaming optimized OS distro that is also hosted on the card, along with any gaming engines. Let the Motherboard CPU way down on the high latency narrow bus, slow memory, run the general purpose OS and other support functions, while gaming will be run on the high end gaming PCI card based system with its uber wide data bus to faster GDDR5 memory and lowest latency on die RAM, the discrete system running the gaming OS and engine on its own CPU cores(the On Die RAM staged with the most often used OS/gaming engine code for whatever game it is running at the time).

Problem with the gaming optimized OS, only option would be Opengl really less they pressure mantle in to more games but then still looking at a small % of games and cause that will keep it a waste of money and not even a consideration for most people.

haswell parts are have a bumped up clock speed from 3.6-3.9 depending on load to 4.0-4.4. so its a boost in speed this is just same cpu + water cooler that costs more. that is about clock difference between 4770 and 4790

They take them, factory overclock them, put a better cooling solution on top of them and then they sell them as faster versions. Intel did the same thing.

Sorry I don’t believe this, a 9590 with liquid cooling from AMD has been available for over a year.
This just can’t be another 9590, even if it is actually a 9590 it will have to be a tweaked version with lower TDP or a higher clock speed. Otherwise this could just simply be a price-cut from 370 to 320.

They managed to squeeze 4 cores and 512 stream processors in the FM2+ package. If they want any kind of positive reaction from their customers, an 8 core APU, even with less stream processors, 256 or even just 128, in the FM2+ socket, would have been a much more interesting product. It would trigger an upgrade for many and in the end it will sell dozens if not hundreds more than 9590 will ever sell.
I can understand that for some reason AMD needs to keep AM3+ alive in our minds, but there are better ways to do it (Steamroller or low wattage 8 core parts, not 220W useless “monsters”).

That’s what me and my creaky Thuban are waiting for – a Kaveri or better with more X86 cores and a sharply reduced number of shaders. (The GPU resources take up much of the die, but are utterly memory starved sitting on a DDR3 bus. DUMB!) Use the saved space to bump L1 or add a dash of reworked L2 cache back to the mix and see how it goes. 8 x86, ~128 shaders, on a speed-optimized process won’t challenge Intel, but should go reasonably well.

I like my AMD system but i a long run with no way to upgrade ( 200+ Wat CPU … sory nop ) Intel i5 or i7 is a only alternative .. its sad end its make me mad but relay only way to make new CPU for AM3+ socket is 8x Core FX-9590 give me some with 136Wat range ore just make a clear info: no new cup form AM3+ only some home heater systems 🙂
220w? Crazy. I couldn’t
220w? Crazy. I couldn’t even attempt to own this chip in AZ. Only 2 days cracked below 100 for the month. Mostly 104+. Next month we’ll hit 110+ for weeks probably…LOL. Get those watts in check AMD. I’m forced into Intel until you do this chip or something like it under 100w (prefer under 80w).
On another note, seeing all the devils canyon links, NONE of them are real chips. When is someone going to stop testing the SAME ES sample sent out and start testing REAL RETAILS so we can actually find out if there is a point to this chip?
I opened each one of the links, saw all the same pics (ES 3.5 or 4.0) and just closed them. NO need to read the 100th review saying “they overclock like crap, we hope retail does better.”
Ban ES testing please. It’s just useless especially when it’s the overclocking that makes this chip (supposedly, though so far crap) special.
With all the die shrinking
With all the die shrinking going on over the years heat has become more of an issue.Why do they not leave the die size alone and shrink the transistors .That way the new hotter processors have a larger area to dissipate the heat from the transistor shrinks.
I mean 140 watts on a pin head size area is impossible to cool yet the same transistors spread over a 1 cm square is much easier to cool and spread over a 1 inch square easier yet.Both have the same transistors just more spread out resulting in easier heat transfer.

Anyway, in AZ along with nobodyspecial, and have to agree–if I was up north, the FX-9xxx + SLI/Crossfire/R295x/Titan-Z would make a WONDERFUL space heater to keep the basement warm and toasty in the winter. Here, however, you have factor in the electric bill from the extra A/C along with the machine, thus things get a LOT more expensive TO RUN than you think!
