This particular benchmark nicely shows the performance hit that we would expect to see with varied levels of tessellation enabled. I tested with it disabled, moderate, normal, and extreme. We should get a good feeling about how these cards handle tessellation under various levels. Resolution was set at 1920×1200, no AA, 16X AF, and High quality settings.
With tessellation disabled we see the GTX 760 take a nice lead over the R9 270X, but the 280X again is the stronger overall card. Once we start cranking up the tessellation factor, the 280X takes a much bigger hit in performance than the GTX 760. The R9 270X suffers about the same as the 760 when tessellation is increased, but is still slower overall to that card.
