Are you still hunting for that perfect gift for the hardware and technology fan in your life? Or maybe you are looking for recommendations to give to your friends and family about what to buy for YOU? Or maybe you just want something new and cool to play with over the break? Welcome to PC Perspective's 10 Days of Christmas where we will suggest a new item each day for you to consider. Enjoy!
The staff here at PC Perspective couldn't decide on a final item for our 10 days series. We decided to do a post with two items to end with a bang (and extreme indecisiveness). Then, just before the post went live, one of the items was no longer available in the bundle that we considered a good deal. Thanks, universe, for stepping in and making us declare a single best deal… of the day. Our final recommendation is: a high-performance router!
Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Router
This tri-band, 6-antenna monster that is the Netgear Nighthawk X6 looks the part, and offers up to 3.2 Gbps performance from its three Wi-Fi data streams (one 600 Mb/s 2.4 GHz network and dual 1300 Mb/s 5 GHz networks). It's powered by a dual-core 1 GHz CPU with 256 MB of RAM, has the usual 4-port Gigabit switch, and offers both USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports on the back. It's an impressive piece of hardware with a price to match, just under $300.
Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Router – Amazon.com ($288.99) – BHPhoto.com ($288.99)
If you are having trouble picking out a gift for a loved one, consider buying an Amazon.com gift card! Amazon has basically every product on the planet for your gift recipient to order and purchasing gift cards through these links directly sponsors and supports PC Perspective! And hey, if you were to buy gift cards for yourself to do your own Amazon-based Christmas shopping…that wouldn't exactly be a bad thing for us either! 😉

Alright, every thing else on
Alright, every thing else on this list was a good christmas present for the slightly geeky. The Core I7 is a stetch , but I could see giving something like that to someone with a same architechture lower end system, but a high end wifi router? That’s the kinda thing that you would buy if you needed it, or I suposse it could be a prezzy for the family, but cummon, this is the kinda thing you buy for yourself.
A large portion of the gifts
A large portion of the gifts given are items that the receiver has specifically asked for – and there is certainly nothing wrong with giving someone what he asked for. 🙂
Right right, I always for get
Right right, I always for get that, no joke, in my family letting someone know what you want for a present GUARANTEES that you will get some horable joke gift, normally in the box of whatever it is you actually wanted.
GREAT CHANUKA STORY
I was a little little kid. All I wanted was a COMMODORE 64 to replace my VIC 20. At my aunt’s Chanuka party I had the biggest box in the laundry basket (dont ask) and waited and waited and when it was finally time to rip off the newspaper (once again, dont ask) It was a COMMODORE 64 BOX……. with 64 new pares of socks. haha, good joke, lets eat some latkas. When we got home however, there was my brand new COMMODORE 64 plugged into the tv.
First thing I did with it, and this would become a monster trend given time, but the first thing I did was load up a copy of “Blue Meanies From Mars” (on a pirated tape I might add) to see how the C64 version compared to the V20 version. 2 diffrent blues? A mono tone that has 4 sharpness levels instead of just one? Truly 64kb is the wave of the future, and given time all computers will have AT LEAST 64kb.
if you really think you need
if you really think you need to spend 288 for super high end wifi, it might be time to run a cable.
You can’t run cables to
You can’t run cables to wireless devices.
Can this Netgear router flap
Can this Netgear router flap its wings and fly like a drone?
The Nighthawk sounds great
The Nighthawk sounds great but in my experience it was not. Went through three of them and two weeks with tech support trying to get the WiFi from dropping devices before giving up and getting the Linksys WRT1900AC. Everything is running smooth now.
