ASUS returns to the mini-ITX friendly form-factor with the GTX 960 Mini (officially named GTX960-MOC-2GD5 for maximum convenience), their newest NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 graphics card.
Other than the smaller size to allow compatibility with a wider array of small enclosures, the GTX 960 Mini also features an overclocked core and promises "20% cooler and vastly quieter" performance from its custom heatsink and CoolTech fan. Here's a quick rundown of key specs:
- 1190 MHz Base Clock / 1253 MHz Boost Clock
- 1024 CUDA cores
- 2GB 128-bit GDDR5 @ 7010 MHz
- 3x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x DVI output
No word on the pricing or availability of the card just yet. The other mini-ITX version of the GTX 960 on the market from Gigabyte has been selling for $199.99, so expect this to run somewhere between $200-$220 at launch.
ASUS has reused this image from the GTX 970 Mini launch, and so have I
The product page is up on the ASUS website so availability seems imminent.
Zotac’s AMP Edition still
Zotac’s AMP Edition still better. NOT smaller, but better.
Anyone know if they make
Anyone know if they make these in a single slot option?
I have a friend who has a mini atx style acer PC and the PCIe slot is at the very top of the mobo and only 1 slot width. atm it has a amd 7470 in it, and it can play COD AW at 20 FPS. so needs a little bump in HP to get 30.
Any advice? or should I just get a new ATX case and PSU and run a 7850 dual slot I have laying around?
Absolute majority of one-slot
Absolute majority of one-slot cards are water blocks.
I agree, but if you are into
I agree, but if you are into watercooling this allows for a tiny fully watercooled PC. GPU, CPU cooling and 180x180mm radiator (only just bigger than footprint of mini-itx board). Would need to find a really small reservoir (and I do mean really small!) but could be very neat, pretty powerful
OR you could have an external
OR you could have an external reservoir, neon colored bubbling away attached to the case. Could be awesome.

Just buy GODLIKE H220/240-X
Just buy GODLIKE H220/240-X from Swiftech, lol.
It’s all there, it’s fully expandable, and the parts it provides cost much more separately than when you simply buy a fully pre-assembled unit of Swiftech’s. There’s some real voodoo magic going on there, I still can’t fathom how Swiftech manages to stay afloat AND profit from this considering that the combo of components they put in H220-X/H240-X costs quite more than the pre-assembled unit itself. It’s pure INSANITY. But it’s AWESOME craziness.
Oops, forgot to add: there’s
Oops, forgot to add: there’s also a H140-X version, a very small one, out there. In the case if you can’t fit a full H220-X or H240-X, get H140-X, it’s fits perfectly fine in almost any ITX case, even very small ones.
at the moment, as far as I
at the moment, as far as I know, there isn’t anyone selling a single slot 960, but honestly there is no reason they couldn’t. The thermals are so low, so efficient it could probably be cooled with a super basic, super slim cooler.
There are choices tho, it’s rather easy to find a single slot 750, and I have seen some single slot 750ti’s, and, well as much as I hate to say it, at the moment AMD doesnt have the same efficiency as nVidia so you arent realy gona find gaming grade single slot Rx-2xx unless you find a 240 acceptable.
Remember, thinner/smaller heat-sync/fans means compromise, either you are paying more for expensive material/highly engineered cooling or are gona get bombarded by a tiny fan working it’s ass off.
PS, that 7850 is still a bad-ass card, it should be doing SOMETHING, if a toy is not played with than it has no point. When a toy is loved, it is truly alive. (The Velveteen Rabbit)
so they make the 970 with 2
so they make the 970 with 2 dvis,1 hdmi and 1 display port and the 960/980 s get three display ports.Makes no sense to me.1 960 is not enough for surround in 3d therefore does not require three display ports while 1 970 is sufficient to run a 3d surround yet it cant because it only has 2 dvis 1 hdmi and 1 display port.
Not everyone wants a PC just
Not everyone wants a PC just for games. On my rig I run 3 displays, but only game on the primary (bigger) monitor in the center. The other two are for when I’m programming or working on big data sets and don’t require fast 3D. When I’m gaming they just run some monitoring software (temperature etc) and/or chat windows etc
