ASUS is launching a new version of its factory overclocked GTX 750 Ti STRIX with double the memory of the existing STRIX-GTX750TI-OC-2GD5. The new card will feature 4GB of GDDR5, but is otherwise identical.
The new graphics card pairs the NVIDIA GM107 GPU and 4GB of memory with ASUS’ dual fan "0dB" DirectCU II cooler. The card can output video over DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort.
Thanks to the aftermarket cooler, ASUS has factory overclocked the GTX 750 Ti GPU (640 CUDA cores) to a respectable 1124 MHz base and 1202 MHz GPU Boost clockspeeds. (For reference, stock clockspeeds are 1020 MHz base and 1085 MHz boost.) However, while the amount of memory has doubled the clockspeeds have remained the same at a stock clock of 5.4 Gbps (effective).
ASUS has not annouced pricing or availability for the new card but expect it to come soon at a slight premium (~$15) over the $160 2GB STRIX 750Ti.
The additional memory (and it's usefulness vs price premium) is a bit of a headscratcher considering this is a budget card aimed at delivering decent 1080p gaming. The extra memory may help in cranking up the game graphics settings just a bit more. In the end, the extra memory is nice to have, but if you find a good deal on a 2GB card today, don’t get too caught up on waiting for a 4GB model.
Dead-on-arrival.

well…at least this card has
well…at least this card has 4gb of ram…or not ?
The GTX 750 Ti is full GM107
The GTX 750 Ti is full GM107 (5 SMMs) with two 64-bit memory controllers for a total 128-bit bus. It should be able to access all 4GB of memory since they did not disable a memory controller ;). I tried searching around but could not find any information on the maximum amount of memory one (each) controller can address but it should work…
“Should” doesn’t mean “they
“Should” doesn’t mean “they would”.
Even if it does, 128-bit bus completely kills it right there.
It’s useless, still-born, dead-on-arrival, worthless trash.
Will this thing need 6 pin
Will this thing need 6 pin power plug?
No, like the 2GB model, it
No, like the 2GB model, it gets all its power (up to 75W) from the PCIe slot on the mobo.

This feels like they are
This feels like they are trying to jump on the back of the 970 media-storm . . .
Though, if uninformed consumers see a 4GB model next to a 2GB model, then will assume it will be considerably better. I have had quite a few times where I ask what kind of graphics people I know have and they describe it to me in gigabytes.
I have had quite a few times
I have noticed that as well heh.
well Tim i get PPL telling me
well Tim i get PPL telling me when i ask how much ram they have they reply with there hard drive space ! lol also sometimes when i ask what os there running they reply internet explorer lol….

Plenty of people ask about
Plenty of people ask about cheap graphics cards at the forums and usually have found a card that has plenty of memory on it and put the link to that card asking if it is a good choice. You then reply that there is a better choice at the same price with faster RAM. Usually 2GB DDR3 vs 1GB GDDR5 models. What follows next is to convince them that you are not lying to them. That for example a low end card with 1GB GDDR5 is indeed a better choice than one with the same GPU with 2GB DDR3.
One person has gone even further than that. I have shown him reviews, charts, explain him about bandwidth and stuff and he replied that understood everything and thank me.
A couple days latter he opens the same thread on another forum, asking people to advice him about a new card. He had links to cards with 2GB DDR3.

Lmao sorry about that but I got a good laugh from your comment! I was thinking more generally about going for extra graphics memory when I wrote that but yeah it doesn’t apply to this card; even less useful here heh.

Also some sites mentioned 200 EURo price so it’s close to 960.

I love extra memory on a
I love extra memory on a mediocre GPU. I am still waiting for a GT730 with 8GB of RAM. An 8GB Radeon R7 240 would also do the job.
I have a feeling future
I have a feeling future gaming is going to need those VRAM… might have to do with new AAA games. Manufacturers definitely look at the gaming industry and research/ survey (or guess?) where its headed.
This release is just like the first Strix from ASUS, the GTX 780 6GB that was release last summer. Watch Dogs and Shadow of Mordor are two games that took advantage of more VRAM, Watch Dogs before the release and Shadow of Mordor after.
They should have made the 960
They should have made the 960 GTX with 4GB of RAM. 750 Ti with 4 GB VRAM is useless.
4GB VRAM should be the
4GB VRAM should be the MINIMUM for any GPU released in 2015 and beyond.
oBVIOUS TO ME that 950 will
oBVIOUS TO ME that 950 will be out soonish, so what to do with excess stocks of 750ti? well just pimp out tho bitches with extra bling and a higher price tag. Sell like warm cakes n napple pie. Also lower the price fairly quickly (after launch) so ppl think their getting a bargain. I fell for the 2gb gddr3 vs 1gb gddr5. I will await 950/ti meself or possibly “Galapagos Islands” from AMD.
keep it dense Homeys.
Extra memory on what (should
