The reason why low end
The reason why low end microphones often lack bass, is because in order to support lower frequencies, you need a diaphragm that will allow for further movement, as well as being large enough to properly articulate when lower frequencies hit it.
generally for really good bass response, the smallest microphone capsule should be about 10-15mm. (while smaller designs can also get low end bass, they take more engineering, and get expensive fast. (e.g., to match a $50 USB microphone, you may spend around 200-300 for a similar sounding lapel mic.

I still wonder what it would
I still wonder what it would look like if one of these VRR displays was set to scan out of the local buffer all of the time at maximum (or preferred) refresh rate. Allyn suggested that this would cause judder, which it definitely would, since you would be displaying a gpu frame for more than one display frame for any gpu refresh rate less than the panel refresh rate.
Would this actually look strange though? For example, would 45 gpu fps look strange displayed at 144 display fps? You would get most frames scanned 3 times; would you notice a few frames scanned 4 times? Would this look that different compared to running at 45 Hz refresh for both? For film to video conversion, some people notice the duplicate frames going from 24 fps -> 60 fps, but I suspect this is less noticeable at higher frame rates. Unless the judder is an issue, this would solve the pixel decay/flicker problem.
For SLI testing, isn’t
For SLI testing, isn’t running 2560×1440 at 2x super sampling equivalent to running at 5k resolution (5120×2880)?

Nope, 1440p with 4x super sampling would be equal to 2880p in terms of memory usage.
But regardless how much you us all kinds of AA on 1440p, it will still look shit compared how real 2880p looks. So theres that.

That is somewhat unclear. I would have expected 2x super sampling to be 2x in both dimensions; twice the resolution. If you are only doing one dimension or two samples at different points un-aligned points, I would call it 2x multi-sampling not 2x supr sampling.

These tiny form factor PC are neat (BRIX, NUC, etc.).
Josh has good examples of there usage. They’re not heavy to carry around and you can pretty much hook them up to any display on the fly without having the need to be attached to it like a laptop. It has more power than those AppleTV, ChromeBox, Intergrated Smart TV Units, etc.
Thou right now, a Micro ATX has more value (Performance per Cost).
