Final Thoughts and Conclusions
SilverStone’s Strider Gold S Series currently includes five models ranging from 550W to 1500W and is positioned near the top of their product offerings. Earlier this year we saw the ST1500-GS PSU perform very well during our tests and earning a strong Gold Award. Like its big brother, the ST750F-GS also comes housed in a compact enclosure. The ST750F-GS chassis measures only 140mm (5.5”) deep; not bad for a 750W PSU. It also features all-modular cabling, incorporates a quiet cooling fan, and is 80 Plus Gold certified for high efficiency.
Voltage regulation is very good, especially on the +12V output. All of the DC outputs stayed within SilverStone’s claimed ±3% range with the +12V rails staying within ±2%. AC ripple and noise suppression is excellent. The ST75F-GS comes with a basic assortment of all-modular, ribbon-style cables with one ATX12V 4+4 pin/EPS 8-pin, and four PCI-E connectors for multiple graphic card support. The 120mm cooling fan is very quiet at low to mid power levels.
The only minor issues we could find to complain about are the 3-year warranty and use of a sleeve bearing cooling fan. We would like to see at least a 5-year warranty and a higher quality cooling fan for a top tier power supply, especially at this price point.
The SilverStone ST75F-GS V2.0 power supply is currently selling for $134.99 USD but it may be hard to find until retailers sell out of the ST75F-GS V1.0 models. SilverStone informed us that once the V1.0 models are gone the price for the ST75F-GS V2.0 is expected to drop to $119.99 USD.
