According to rumours DigiTimes has heard, ECS motherboards may no longer be sold by themselves and will only be found in OEM builds. With the slowdown in the DIY PC market, arguably caused in part by a lack of reasons to completely upgrade gaming systems, ECS may be withdrawing from the market. This bears to reason as their motherboard families have been much smaller than the competitions for a while now and you do not see much marketing for them on sites recently. It is always sad to see the marketplace shrink, hopefully this will give them the ability to focus more on their tablets and laptops and make those products more competitive; though that market is even tougher to succeed at than the motherboard business.
"Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) has announced that it will no longer actively market own-brand DIY motherboards but will undertake ODM/OEM production if clients have demand, and this is the equivalent of a gradual withdrawal from the global own-brand DIY motherboard market, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers."

Might be easier for them to
Might be easier for them to make something on this move. there’s so much in the motherboard space that it’s hard to stand apart without doing stuff that’s really wild(and not totally necessary.
That being said, it’s sad. A good handful of my past builds used them, and they were at least in my opinion, very solid for budget choices.
They are? they scare the hell
They are? they scare the hell out of me!!! they look like the cheap mother boards from the late 90s
Hmm not really surprised.
Hmm not really surprised. Their market share is pretty much non-existent. Availability around world even worse. Last time I had ECS board was rocking with 486DX4-100. Ancient history. And it was rubbish back then (board not the chip LOL).

Nice board, but not supported as much as it should considering it was a hi end board, having just a beta BIOS for Thuban CPUs where it seemed they had cut the lower p state to add the turbo of Thuban. So Thuban couldn’t go lower than 1.6GHz.
The Chinese motherboard
The Chinese motherboard manufacturers, Colorful and others are probably going to move up in the market, and begin to displace the current players. The whole PC/laptop marketplace is about to go through another one of those transformational periods before things settle down again.
