Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 390 8GB Review - Graphics Cards 22

Ah, BF4, old reliable. In this game the Sapphire Nitro R9 390 again has the performance advantage at 2560×1440, coming in just over 50 FPS on average.  Both the Radeon R9 290X and the GeForce GTX 970 are just under that same 50 FPS mark. The R9 290 though hovers around 44 FPS, giving the R9 390 another 13% edge.

Running at 4K the R9 390 is again the fastest of the four cards benchmarked here today. Resulting in an average frame rate of around 27 FPS, the game may not be extremely playable at these settings, but it does demonstrate the power of the card.

Sapphire Nitro R9 390 8GB, Average FPS Comparisons, Battlefield 4
  R9 290X 4GB R9 290 4GB GTX 970 4GB
2560×1440 +2% +13% +3%
3840×2160 +5% +14% +8%

Though the margins are slim, the Sapphire Nitro Radeon R9 390 is actually faster than the R9 290X at both resolutions, showing us that AMD is doing something good with the revised Hawaii chips. Compared to the Radeon R9 290, the new R9 390 has advantages of 13-14%; quite a sizeable number compared to what I had expected!
