3DMark FireStrike and Unigine Heaven
Now that we have taken a look at our gaming tests using our Frame Rating metrics and testing methods, we are including a set of tests from more standard benchmarks like Unigine Heaven and the new 3DMark benchmark.
I consider these tests to be somewhat of a "best case" for all the cards in our comparison. We aren't using our frame capture system, we aren't measuring frame latency, nothing like that; I think this should give you an idea of graphics performance if each vendor had the best result for each game.
The 3DMark Fire Strike results scale pretty well for all parties, as you would expect with this being a synthetic benchmark and all. Looking at the Ultra results, the AMD Fury X scales by 92% on 2-Way CrossFire and by 49% on 3-Way CrossFire (keeping in mind that 50% ins the maximum there!). The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti scales by 98% at 2-Way SLI and by 44% moving on to triple SLI.
Unigine Heaven does not scale well for NVIDIA on the GTX 980 Ti when compared to the AMD Radeon R9 Fury X – odd considering the tessellation emphasis on this test.
