July 29th started the official roll-out of Windows 10 and, for Windows Insiders, was pretty much “Wednesday”. We already had everything of relevance by Monday on the OS side of things, and not even a security patch landed in our Windows Update queue. It was not the only thing that Microsoft launched today, though. While Visual Studio 2015 was released last week, it said that it was not compatible with pre-10240 SDKs and would delete them during the installation process and you will be unable to develop SDK apps until the one for 10240 launches on July 29th.
So, coincident with the OS release, Microsoft finally published the 10240 Windows SDK. Now, if you run Visual Studio 2015's installer, it will install the new SDK directly. You do not need to download it from a secondary source. These headers and libraries are placed in the “Windows Kits” folder of your 32-bit Program Files directory… ironically, without deleting the previous SDKs that it threatened to, when run before July 29th. Go figure.
Also, even though DirectX 12 has been in the Windows SDK for quite some time, Microsoft has, also, finally released code examples and they put them on their GitHub page. These samples teach you how to do things like draw a triangle, manage DirectX 11-era contexts alongside DirectX 12 ones in your application, and create an n-body gravity simulation. They welcome pull requests for fixes, although they might appreciate new samples as well.
Including all the AD pumping,
Including all the AD pumping, and spyware adding APIs, with telemetry transmitted straight to the big server farm for the data analytics! For all that ANALytical probing of your innermost metrics, and we know where the clouds of stinky gas are coming from! You’ll have to pay to turn off the annoying ads in M$’s new “Free” OS. By agreeing to the widows 10 EULA you agree to bend over and spread those gluts wide, and that probe comes with a high definition camera! Cortina needs to insert this M$ Universal-Probe and refusal to agree to a thorough probing will void your license agreement!
M$ does not provide any lubricant, please order some from the app store!
its old… shut up already.
its old… shut up already.
Go over to The Register, and
Go over to The Register, and read the responses to 10, your cries to “shut up” will be ignored, and what about that freemium ad nauseam ads that will gradually work their way into more of the OS and its applications. Get ready for more forcing, and no ability to turn OFF secure boot on PCs/Laptops that come with windows 10 factory installed. Get ready for that old fashioned monopoly lock-in, when you are locked out of your choices to accept or reject “Updates” and DO expect that those “Updates” will be updating more than the usual Swiss cheese security vulnerabilities, they will be tacking on the tacky ad pushing functionality with its freemium pricing to turn off all the tacky ads. M$: Oh where did we put those secure boot keys for secure booting any alternative OSs, we appear to have misplaced them, and you cannot turn the secure boot off in the UEFI/BIOS on that new OEM laptop because the off switch was “OPTIONAL” or dear[with a big hungry crock’s smile and a crock’s feigned tears]!!! The stripping of the free functionality will begin once enough market Penetration is established for those that accept 10’s EULA to indentured servitude, You will bend over and you will take it, and you will get “Updated” repeatedly! Bend over here it comes again!
then go over to the register
then go over to the register and fill up the screen.
im sick of anything MS posted to PCPER blown up with crap.
I like PCPER because they don’t have a bunch of angry comments getting into 10 page fights…but that seems to be changing…this is sad. Im liking pcper less and less because of people like you.
next up another AMD post…….rage rage rage.
you are screwing this site up, hate windows 10 FINE, HATE IT.. but you do NOT have to go full ffking blast on EVERY SINGLE MS anything post, go hate win 10, go run linux, go do whatever you want to do and SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its like you want to walk around 24/7 with both middle fingers up shouting any time you can.
Monkeyboy is that you,
Monkeyboy is that you, worried about your stock’s price and biting hard on your silk pillow at night and flailing your legs temper tantrum style with envy at Apple’s margins just off of its phone sales. That silk does not last long drenched in monkey sweat, and the maid will have to go to the stockroom and get some new sheets. And M$ without any phone market share to boast of is still trying to turn PCs/Laptops into a phone style ecosystem appliances replete with the nickel and diming for apps and the forced ingestion of updates to adware. That EULA of bondage, with its terms of indenture, and a whole fiefdom of serfs bound to the land that is under 10’s rule, and more profits for the emperor of Redmond!
The hate for M$, is the hate for the Standard Oil Trust, and Ma Bell, and the other big Trusts that need/needed some real busting. The hate for the Politicians so thoroughly purchased with all of those Trust’s dollars, and more of the gilded age behind a veil of technology.
Okay… everyone, cool it
Okay… everyone, cool it with the personal attacks. Not appropriate.
Protecting Ballmer(AKA
Protecting Ballmer(AKA Monkeyboy)! But he’s such a sweaty former CEO, and as the major M$ stock holder, is still influencing his puppet Nutdella in many ways! And with so much subterfuge regarding 10’s Freemium status promulgated by M$. Those marketing types bring it on themselves, especially when that get the CEO chair, and in one CEOs case getting the chair in the literal sense and flinging it across the office.
Must we now loose our rights to criticize a public figure!
Public figure or not, you can
Public figure or not, you can criticize whoever you like. You can also act like a jerk, which you shouldn't. Please don't. Not appropriate.
Well you can moderate the
Well you can moderate the discussion, by removing the offensive material. But expect more bad reactions to M$ and its monopolistic land grab tactics! The shouting match has just begun, and the lack of a legislative solution, or enforcement of antitrust laws on the books just adds to the anger! Expect that the PC market will forever lack the growth potential to keep as many employed, and that growth can not continue forever. Many will remain on 7, and never go beyond, but the market is about to get even worse for the makers of PC and laptops. My yearly hardware updates have ceased and not for lack of funds to purchase new hardware, but for lack of an OS that will stay out of my personal business and simply perform its intended purpose. This all started with 8, and continues more so with 10.
thank you scott, blowing up
thank you scott, blowing up threads for the sake of blowing up threads………..not good.
moderate the discussion by removing you from it..sheesh
reset this whole post to zero and all is well.
