UPDATE (July 14th, 6:15pm ET): The change is now in effect. Going to the Insiders page at insider.windows.com has the PC link disabled and a message explaining that you're too late.
See you at RTM!
Windows 10 is launching two weeks from Wednesday. Microsoft has set up a reservation system for Windows 7 and 8.x, apparently to create a queue for early adopters in before their “could care less” demographic. This was not available on Windows 10 Insider Preview, which we later found out is because Insiders are already at the front of the line. This is important, given today's announcement.
July 13th, which is thankfully not a Friday, will be the last full day to receive ISOs or new builds over Windows Update. By some point tomorrow, these will be taken offline. We will be transitioned over to “production channels” for our next build and ISOs will not be provided. Also, pre-release keys will no longer activate. ISOs will return at some point, but they want to get everyone using their updating platform to make sure they work.
They also say that we will receive at least one new build before release.
Obviously, we are getting close so things are going to start changing. I wonder how long we will stay on RTM branch before Microsoft pushes Insiders forward. We know that Microsoft has already forked development into a 105xx line of build numbers, which is very likely to be post-launch updates. I am not sure that they would push those out over production though, so you would think that Insiders will be on RTM-based builds for at least a little bit.
Today might be your last chance to get in on Windows Insider for a bit, though.

i am confused, linking new PC to the insider programme ended for good ? or just suspended for X period of time untill they release it ?
“For the supported lifetime
“For the supported lifetime of your device”, But if you do not pay for support that “Free” OS will not be enabled to continue to provide you with its “supported” services! The upgrade to a pay to play OS as a service comes with some interesting undefined and indefinite wording. The “Free” OS with the ambiguous wording in the EULA will be what gets the fishies on the hook, to be thoroughly crooked, better read the EULA and have the legal sharks give it the lookover. One year on the “Free” upgrade, one “supported” lifetime of the device still not defined! I just wonder what that one will mean once the hook is set, and they are reeling you in for a seafood buffet, you all covered in Tarter Sauce and laid out X-Boned in neatly carved fillets!
And now M$ has their bot, Ed
And now M$ has their bot, Ed Bott, showing only part of the M$ End User License Agreement and proclaiming M$ the OS that is the 10 out of 10 host with the most! BUT those strings are still there, and no way to block specific updates, updates that may turn things on or turn them off, updates that may deprecate code, or applications, like media player, or just updates that turn on the metrics gathering that you have managed to turn off! Keep a close eye on all of 10’s EULA, in its full and complete context, with all of its negating phrasing and other not so definite legal gymnastics! M$ will have at its will the ability to control the vertical, and the horizontal, on your third party OEM laptop/PC hardware, and little by little that basic functionality of M$’s “Free” OS can and will be removed, only to be offered as a pay for play subscription though the 30% off of the top M$ app store.
They will be repeating the little white lies so often that those with little reasoning skills will believe it as truth, but the real truth will come out, a little too late for some! M$ is looking at creating an Apple style closed application ecosystem with your third party “Independently” produced PC/Laptop hardware, and you are just part of the product, especially all of your personal metrics. Keep a very keen EYE on the complete wording of the M$ windows 10 EULA, ask the consumer law folks for some analysis and watch the subtle turning and negating of legal rights to those that click AGREE to the EULA. that Free coms with some very interesting strings attached and some hoops that users will be forever forced to jump through!
will older win10 builds which
will older win10 builds which cannot update now to the latest dev build still get the production channel updates?
