Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury 4GB Review with CrossFire Results - Graphics Cards 28

Crysis 3 continues to be a fantastic real-world benchmark for PC hardware and even with the power of the AMD Fury and Fury X, we are just hitting 35-40 FPS with the Very High image quality settings shown above. For the comparison though, the Fury card is a full 28% faster than the GTX 980 and is only 8% behind the Fury X!

Again, the Sapphire Tri-X Fury finds itself 28% faster than the GTX 980 while running at 4K!

Sapphire Tri-X R9 Fury 4GB, Average FPS Comparisons, Crysis 3
  NVIDIA GTX 980 AMD Fury X AMD R9 290X
2560×1440 +28% -8% +20%
3840×2160 +28% -11% +20%

This table presents the above data in a more basic way, focusing only on the average FPS, so keep that in mind. Not only is the GTX 980 a full 28% slower than the AMD Fury in our testing with Crysis 3, it stays ahead of the R9 290X by 20% as well. Clearly the AMD Fury card is making a place for itself in this market.

CrossFire Results

Our CrossFire results are presented only to give you an idea of R9 Fury scaling capability as we didn't have a chance to test a pair of GTX 980 cards in SLI for comparison yet.

If any game were to benefit from CrossFire scaling, it would be Crysis 3. At 2560×1440 we are able to move from 36 FPS or so up to 67 FPS, a difference of nearly 90%!

The scaling rate continues to be fantastic at 4K though the raw frame rates are still under whelming.
