The good news from Google is that as of next month, Flash ads will be 'Click to Play' when you are browsing in Chrome. This will be nice for the moving ads but even better for defeating those sick minded advertisers who think audio ads are acceptable. However this will hurt websites which depend on ad revenue … as in all of the ones that are not behind a paywall which have Flash based ads. The move will make your web browsing somewhat safer as this will prevent the drive-by infections which Flash spreads like a plague infested flea and as long as advertisers switch to HTML 5 their ads will play and revenue will continue to come in.
The news of Chrome's refusal to play Flash ads is tempered somewhat by Google's decision to put advertising ahead of security for Apple devices. The new iOS 9 uses HTTPS for all connectivity, providing security and making it more difficult for websites to gather personalized data but as anyone who uses HTTPS Everywhere already knows, not all advertisements are compliant and are often completely blocked from displaying. To ensure that advertisers can display on your iOS9 device Google has provided a tool to get around Apple's App Transport Security thus rendering the protection HTTPS offers inoperative. Again, while sites do depend on advertisements to exist, sacrificing security to display those ads is hard to justify.
"The web giant has set September 1, 2015 as the date from which non-important Flash files will be click-to-play in the browser by default – effectively freezing out "many" Flash ads in the process."

I think this will just speed
I think this will just speed along the movement away from flash all together. The ad people still wanna make money so they will find a way.
On PCPer’s web page: “Flash
On PCPer’s web page: “Flash player not detected. Click here to install flash.”, I have Flash installed, but I keep it turned off until I’m just ready to play content that can’t otherwise play without Flash. It’s good to see more websites ditching Flash. I just hope that I can never have to be using any of Adobe’s products, here that Wacom and your use of Adobe AIR. I’d like tablet input devices and printer driver packages to not use any Adobe products, or embed any Flash/AIR .DLLs in their software installations at all.
And Adobe is the worst for finding/inquiring out/about what is the most current version of their software packages. Adobe is more concerned with pushing ads and ad-ware during their installation process than actually informing the user the status of their install! I’m so tired of the utter marketing crap mixed in with the technical update process with Adobe, and I just hope that they loose more customers than me after all that SAAS crap! I do not like clouds in my application software! I have removed Flash from my other systems but keep it around and turned off/disabled on my primary system in hopes that most streaming content providers will ditch flash, and I can finally get rid of the menace.
-Flash! Ah AH! It’ll Pawn every one of US!
chrome://plugins -> Disable
chrome://plugins -> Disable Adobe Flash Player and move on with your life. Autoplaying, screen hijacking, and non-muteable ads are the reason for that. At some point you gotta say enough.
And why is this news?
And why is this news? Google’s business model depends on ads. OBVIOUSLY security for other devices comes second to their own revenue. And users, instead of patting themselves on the back for finding some technological workaround, would be better off spending their time thinking of a different funding model for the world wide web. These half-arsed efforts will not bring about any significant change.
I just fucking hate the audio
I just fucking hate the audio adds SOOOOOOOOO much, and the talking page that wont shut and the announce, WHO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO BUY FROM THOSE FUCKERS?!?!?!?
So Firefox is overrun with
So Firefox is overrun with SJWs and Chrome is (still) selling the user out.

As someone who uses Firefox
As someone who uses Firefox and uninstalled flash, i havnt missed it that much. Just keep Chrome around to watch hulu or Netflix.
Too bad Hulu.com has a bug with Chrome now and will not play shows in Linux any more. :/
I’m surprised advertisers
I’m surprised advertisers tolerated Flash for this long. My guess is that crash bugs, battery drains, browser slow downs, and over the top abusive ads accounted for many more ad block installs than a desire to not see ordinary advertising ever did.
