The latest benchmark from Futuremark can certainly hammer on the latest video cards. I run the tests at the standard setting so we can set a good baseline for how a card SHOULD perform. AMD and NVIDIA work very hard to tune their products to these benchmarks, so this should be a measure of theoretical performance in a controlled situation.
The Zotac card takes the lead in this demanding benchmark. It is not exactly a commanding lead, as the MSI 970 and R9 290X are close behind. I am surprised that the Zotac card is not very far ahead of the MSI 970 due to the base and boost clock speed differences.
I noticed the cooling fins
I noticed the cooling fins are vertical on the Zotac unit, is it blowing half of the heat directly onto the motherboard? Or is that not really an issue?
I wouldn’t say it was an
I wouldn't say it was an issue at all. In fact, the extra downforce might in fact help overall cooling on the motherboard.
