Have you tried to play the original Deus Ex in the past few years only to find the resolution and overall quality of the textures so painful that you stopped after the first mission? Have you though about doing it but never quite managed to start it up? Perhaps this new revamp of the game will change your opinion, with all new assets, music and graphics tweaks. Rock, Paper, SHOTGUN would like you to know about Deus Ex: Revision, a mod available on Steam for those who own the game which brings new life to the old classic. Thanks to the Stealth Sale the GotY version is a steep $1.55(ish) on Steam, so pick it up and see if this update is enough to convince you to replay or to introduce you for the first time to the game which was significantly better designed than its sequel.
"Deus Ex: Revision [official site] is a project that overhauls “the environments and soundtrack” of Ion Storm’s classic, and it’s out now on Steam. The release has the backing of Deus Ex’s current publishers and developers (Square Enix and Eidos Montreal), and is designed to work exclusively with the Steam release of the original."

Doesn’t this work with
Doesn’t this work with anything other then the Steam version? I’ve already bought this game twice, once on CD and once from GOG.com. $1.55 isn’t bad, but leaving out so many fans is disappointing.
I’d be impressed if that CD
I'd be impressed if that CD was still workable!
ModDB offers a standalone which should work with your GOG copy. http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-revision/

It does, I fired it up a while back out of nosalgia. 🙂 The GOG purchase was in a recent sale. Thanks for the link, have to give this a shot.

Those CDs are still usually in working condition.
And your link sadly is not standalone installer for non-Steam version It is just full download for Steam version.
But there are reports that it can be made work with other version. Facebook page for mod has details. (I’ll link it separately)
I just completed Deus Ex
I just completed Deus Ex about a month ago. I installed the New Vision mod which enabled higher resolutions are well as some improved textures. One of the best games of all time hands down in my opinion. I probably won’t be playing it again anytime soon, but I’ll keep this in mind for a few years down the road.

“HOW YOU GET REVISION WORKING WITH THE CD/GOG VERSIONS OF DEUS EX
Use the standalone installer (ModDB page) and ignore steam at the end.
Then download Kentie’s launcher , extract it into your Deus Ex/System.
Make a copy of the Deusex.exe and rename it to Revision.exe
Now run the Revision.exe , configure it how you see fit, and finally in Data Directories make sure to check everything you can uncheck BioMod and/or Shifter if you don’t want to play with them.
And that’s it. have fun. In case you have no music in game…check if you have a Deus Ex folder in your Documents. If you do delete it and try to run the game again.”
…I never asked for this.

I saw this on the Steam Store
I saw this on the Steam Store front page last night and downloaded it. I haven't fired it up yet, but it sounds like it's going to really improve the experience!

Looking good. Plays nice with Wine as well – for the Linux (/BSD) geeks as well… I’ve added it to WineHQ AppDB already 🙂
