ASUS has added two new laptops to their N series line up premium, entertainment-focused laptops. The new models offer Intel’s 6th-gen (Skylake) Core i7 processors and high resolution IPS displays, as well as fast PCIe storage and discrete NVIDIA graphics.
The new models are the 15.6-inch N552 and 17.3-inch N752, and both sizes offer wide-gamut IPS display options up to 3840×2160 with 100% sRGB coverage. The displays are powered by graphics up to a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M. Quad-core Intel Core i7 processors power both models, with a generous 16GB of RAM standard. Storage is provided via PCIe x4 storage with speeds of 1500 MB/s with capacities up to 512 MB, and external connectivity includes a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port.
While boasting powerful specs these N-series laptops are also geared toward entertainment, with ASUS drawing attention to the sound from their “SonicMaster” audio system, which boasts powerful B&O ICEpower class-D amplification for the laptop’s front-facing speakers. Other features include backlit keys which offer 1.8 mm travel, and aluminum covering the keyboard area and lid.
The new models haven’t shown up on the U.S. product pages just yet, so pricing and availability are not yet known.
Finally some laptops with USB
Finally some laptops with USB Type-C Gen 2 Ports sporting USB 3.1 connectivity and the 10Gbs speeds. Now where are the Laptops with the Carrizo FX8800P at 35 Watts and the option for an AMD discrete Mobile GCN GPU. I think there is one Lenovo, maybe 2 models! Maybe get a sample from Lenovo and bechmark it.
Side Rant: Let’s not continue
Side Rant: Let’s not continue to incorrectly call UHD 4K. They are different resolutions and most everything you see in the consumer space is UHD now.
I really don’t understand UHD on mobile devices. Do people really hate their battery life that much? The 35% loss of battery life is never worth the marginal increase in screen clarity.
meh, ill pick up where you
meh, ill pick up where you left off, if thats ok…
your confusion here, which is quite logical btw, only confirms that press releases like these are pointless. 99.99% of the consumer market, which simply dont care about your assertion, let alone comprehend it, are the same people that bought Beats by DRE ™. in this day and age, ‘function’ is secondary to ‘form’. and ‘form’, only applies in this context by name alone. what we’re seeing is more of an amalgamation of what consumers ‘think’ they what, based on what the marketers are ‘telling’ them they want, whom of course, base their messages according to the pressures of wall street.
i really feel sorry for the folks that bought beats by dre. seriously….i hope this condition, where you purposefully do not engage your brain, is an isolated incident. not just for your personal sake, but for that of the human species.
end rant. “ohh look, ‘idiocracy’ is on tv again!”

ha, yes! not so much the shill part tho. that’s stretching it a bit i think, and sounds more like opinion than anything else. in which case, maybe all of you should share a cab XD!
These units will be costly,
These units will be costly, and Nvidia’s graphics will be overpriced as usual. But this is sponsored content mostly! If one refers to the techPowerUp article/press release the content is clearly marked in Bold Blue with white letters as a press release upper left of the release. The Nvidia SKU is not going to be able to game above 1080p for demanding AAA games. At least TechPowerUp clearly marks their articles as Press Releases/Sponsored, not so for PCPer, with that little link in the lower right of the “article”.
OK this is pure LOL. You will
OK this is pure LOL. You will need atomic microscope to decipher content of the screen with 3840×2160 on a 17″ or 15″ screen. It’s total pain for the eyes on anything less than 27″.

Hahaha ok you try and be
Hahaha ok you try and be productive and not get a headache at 4k with a 17 inch monitor. This laptop isn’t for gaming so throw that out…We have a 13.1 inch Acer ultrabook with 1440p and even at %150 scaling that is rough. Sure it is nice to have a nice PPI, but there is a point where it becomes a waste. We have to zoom in on all websites because they only take up the middle 50% of the screen.
4k on a laptop is marketing bliss!!! But to use more power for a resolution which will require scaling is just silly!
This is getting ridiculous people..
Yes laptops HD are overkill
Yes laptops HD are overkill and Laptop OEMs would do consumers a favor by relegating 1366 x 768 to the dustbin of history and at least offering 1080P. Hay laptop OEMs how about some Carrizo FX8800P based laptops that can run the APU at 35 watts, with the same laptop feature options that you have for Intel based laptop SKUs. Carrizo is the only Laptop SKU with GCN 1.2 graphics and it’s only relegated to 15 watt Thin and Lights, where’s the Beefier laptops! WTF laptop OEM’s this is getting old with the Thin and Light crap, and Intel gets plenty of 35 watt laptop options, so what about AMD getting some 35 Watt Carrizo APU options with its better graphics at a more affordable price!

i agree, but when are focus
i agree, but when are focus the blame where it truly lies, in the underlying code, rather than the panel? the average ppi of desktop panels is so low on the spectrum of what the human can discern, that any increase in that aspect would be a boon. it isnt the fault of the panel, that the underlying code of the OS doesnt leverage that fact. why is this even an issue? apple and their lame ‘retina display’ marketing proved this to the average consumer awhile ago…
