A Detailed Look from the Outside
The Be Quiet! Silent Base 600 Window Mid-Tower case is made from a combination of steel (0.7mm), ABS plastic, and rubber parts. The overall fit and finish of the case is very good. The case is painted black inside and out. The riveted SECC chassis is light weight but rigid and the black matte powder coat finish matches the black plastic parts well.
The hinged front door is made out of plastic and covered with sound absorption material on the inside. Opening the door exposes three external 5.25” drive bays, which are fitted with plastic covers. Behind the lower section of the front panel are locations for two 120mm or two 140mm intake fans. One 140mm fan comes pre-installed. There is also an easy to remove dust filter that slides up and out when the front door is open. Note the small 3-position fan control switch just below the top I/O panel in the center above the top 5.25” drive bay cover.
An external I/O panel is located at the top of the Silent Base 600 case, just above the door for convenience, and contains:
• (2) USB 2.0 ports
• Headphone Out
• Microphone In
• (2) USB 3.0 ports
The main Power button and HDD Activity light are located just behind the I/O panel.
The front panel can be removed by releasing six plastic clips (three on each side from inside the case). This gives a good look at the front intake fan area.
Both side panels are removable and secured with two thumb screws at the back.
The left side panel features a large double-glazed window (two window panes separated by an air gap for sound isolation) to show off all your internal hardware.
The right side panel incorporates a square plastic cowling in the center. It is fitted with a dust filter and is pre-drilled for a 120mm fan. However, there isn’t enough clearance inside for a fan to breath but one “could” be mounted on the outside if desired. Both side panels are covered with sound absorption foam on the inside. In practice, the side panels are very easy to take off and re-install and fit securely once in place.
nice review! but i cant help
nice review! but i cant help but feel castigated for liking these cases. no! you be quiet! bunch of jerks XD
I like this even more than my
I like this even more than my Silent Base 800. The SB800 is too big. As usual, wait 6 months and there will be a new computer part -better, cheaper, smaller- than the awesome thing you buy today… sigh 🙁
i wish that same logic
i wish that same logic applied to my wife n kids…essh. “what did daddy say about fallout time!!??
“i’ll pull this car over, and
“i’ll pull this car over, and make you upgrade to win10!”
Yet another “me too” design.
Yet another “me too” design. Could be from any one of a vast number of case manufacturers. With exception of Fractal and Silverstone case design has got stuck.
Here are my list of the things wrong with the design
1. The power button – placed so pointless if computer is under a desk
2. The case is 230mm wide but can only use 140mm fans? Come on use 180mm fans
3. All that hard disk space – why? If you want a lot of HDD space buy a NAS.
4. Fat radiators do not fit up top – Fractal cracked that problem years ago
5. Can someone please come up with an elegant solution for the power cables to the GPUs so not as messy
Please recommend a “quiet
Please recommend a “quiet case” that has the features you listed above. I’d like to build a new desktop, but it must be quiet..tend to keep my PC’s for years past their prime..not an early adopter…
I am thinking of adding extra
I am thinking of adding extra fan/fans to my “600” case and wondered whether two at the top or one to make the “push/pull” arrangement with my water cooler radiator would be best?
