Under the Hood

Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the EVGA SuperNOVA 650W and 750W P2 power supplies.  Internally the two units are nearly identical (except for a couple larger/additional components in the 750P2) as you would expect as they are both built upon Super Flower’s popular Leadex platform. Super Flower is a very capable OEM and one of the few who can go head-to-head with Seasonic.

The new P2 series features a modern LLC resonant circuit design and the layout of components is clean while the soldering appears to be excellent. Two DC-to-DC converters are used on the secondary to produce the +3.3V and +5V minor rails from the +12V main section.

All of the capacitors used inside the new 650P2 and 750P2 PSUs are high-quality Japanese made (Nippon Chemi-con) electrolytic and solid polymer caps. The 650P2 incorporates a single Nippon Chemi-Con primary capacitor rated for 680uF, 400V and 105°C; looking good!
