Okay this is just cool (albeit a little old news).
YouTube user CryZENx made a few tech demos that star classic video game characters, with modern, Unreal Engine 4-powered graphics. Samus has a glossy, metallic suit of armor. Goku launches bright Kamehameha blasts, as well as punches, kicks, and spins with his power pole, all while his tail wags and whips around behind him.
It is also one of the first demos that I've seen use NVIDIA FleX. One level has two spout of clear blue water. One flows over a pile of rigid bodies and splits in the corner of the world, and the other flows through two water wheels, which shape the spout before it blobs on the ground.
As always, be careful running what you download from the internet. That said, it doesn't trigger a permission escalation (UAC) or anything, so chances are that it is just a typical project cooked through Unreal Engine 4. Nintendo and others might be a bit upset at their trademarks being used, but it's a non-commercial tech demo for a hobbyist game developer.
They would be better off hiring them.
The video is monetized.
The video is monetized. Meaning the guy who made the video is going to make money off of using Nintendo’s trademarks in that video. If Nintendo finds out and does nothing, then I’d be very surprised knowing their history.
Is it? I can’t tell
Is it? I can't tell personally.

So yes.
The hypoCrazy of cheering something like this on. Wonder how many will cheer when he gets a C&D or get taken to court for damages.
That’s only if you set it up
That's only if you set it up to accept ad revenue. I can't tell if they did or not.
Just say its a “Techdemo” and
Just say its a “Techdemo” and apparently its okay to violate trademarks.
The thing that’s stupid is you need a 750 Ti or 670 for “acceptable frame rate”. Yup that UE4 engine is crap. If a single character and some effects need that much power its going to crawl once background and other animations starts being added.
You do realize that
You do realize that optimizations happen in the later stages of development and prob has not even been attempted here…
If it ran well for the creator, thats all that matters when creating. If it runs for others, bonus.
It’s a hobbyist project, don’t expect AAA title performance.
Also, the amount of particles
Also, the amount of particles being produced is pretty intense.
WHAT are you talking about..
WHAT are you talking about.. The UE4 engine is not even totally finished, Polished. Also it works great on my 970… FUCK dual 970s and it runs max out at 144fps no problem
In games made last
In games made last century.
According to Nvidia the 970 needs to be set to high settings to get games at 60 fps at 1080p.
I’ll believe Nvidias recommendations.
Depends on the game. For
Depends on the game. For example, the Chess-based game that I'm making in UE4 regularly gets well over 100 FPS on a GeForce GTX 670, often maxing out at the 120 FPS limit I set. Granted, it's mostly static lighting and everything's rigid.
Also, the mostly-downward camera limits the amount of objects that are in view, so that helps keep draw calls fairly low.
