ECS will announce a new LIVA mini PC at CES 2016, which they are describing as a "one-liter book-size Core i mini PC".
"ECS is proud to introduce its brand new LIVA mini-PC – One at CES 2016. It features a flexible hardware configuration in a book-size, one-liter form factor. In addition, LIVA mini PC with Windows 10 will have a remote control application natively built-in; providing full wireless usage with your own mobile devices."
No images were provided, but the prospect of an Intel Core processor alone makes it a much more attractive proposition than prior versions which use underpowered Atom processors.

PC Perspective will be covering CES as new products are officially unveiled, and we will have more on this new hardware from the show.
It better be good. I had the
It better be good. I had the first gen Liva and it couldn’t play videos properly as I’m sure you also found out in your tests.
Right now, the Kangaroo is a much better value proposition. Quad core atom processor with the same amount of memory and storage as the base Liva, plus integrated battery in a much smaller and ergonomic package for a mere 100 bucks.
Gotta step up your game, ECS.
Until Intel gets full
Until Intel gets full hardware H.265 acceleration, I would be wary of trusting any IGP-only device.

“ECS to Announce LIVA Mini-PC with Intel Core Processor”
All Liva PCs come with Intel processors. Last year they had an AMD model in their LIVA roadmap, but they never produced that model. Probably they are getting a very good deal from Intel for those Intel chips.
PS. Didn’t noticed the “core” part on the title. Guess it is this one? http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_LIVA.aspx?DetailID=1625&LanID=0
I don’t know if it will be a
I don't know if it will be a rebranded 'Core' model since they're calling it 'One', or if it will have a mobile Skylake part or something like that. I would love one of these with an AMD APU since they struggle with graphics/video, and I would take a quiet fan for better performance. The lack of AMD mini-PCs is likely due to the fanless designs in my opinion. I think a very low RPM fan would completely change the performance picture by allowing for better parts. Heck, Intel's Compute Stick had a fan, and that was on a low-power Atom part.
More like AMD’s lack of funds
More like AMD’s lack of funds for contra revenue, and Intel can not match AMD’s APU graphics for SOCs at a comparable price point. Intel’s contra revenue is what is keeping AMD out of these devices. I would rather look at some of those industrial mini PCs, and maybe AMD’s Carrizo R series SKUs with DDR4 support will be used, and some of the industrial Mini PC’s have way better connectivity options like more display port ports, etc.
AMD is doing a Carrizo refresh in 2016, and DDR4 options will be available, there are some more 35 watt mobile Carrizo parts, some Bristol Ridge mobile parts with 25-45 watt envelops, so maybe a Mini PC able to run the Carrizo Refresh SKU at its full 45 watts. Bristol Ridge will have desktop(65 watt) built for socket FP4, and mobile SKUs using the Excavator core.
Mini PC makers like Fit-PC, and other makers of industrial Mini PCs, use more AMD APU SKUs. I’m looking for some Mint Box like Linux based systems with AMD’s latest APUs, and hopefully AMD’s new open Middleware/open driver program will help get AMD APUs into more Linux based mini PCs!

The above model, with the
The above model, with the Broadwell SOC, is 0.4 liters (based on the video on their page @ 0:15 ), so maybe we have a new line of LIVA mini PCs, in bigger cases and with more connectivity? Maybe that “book size” it doesn’t mean “pocket size” book.
Just guessing.
The new product is called
The new product is called LIVA ONE actually. It’s powered by a 35W Skylake processor. It’s not fanless unfortunately :

What is going on with Intel
What is going on with Intel NUC? Why aren’t they continuing with Thunderbolt NUC introductions. I’m waiting for an i7 6th gen NUC with Thunderbolt 3. I glad the 6th gen NUC has M.2 and DDR4, just need the Thunderbolt now, whether 3, 2 or 1 even. If they don’t do this soon, I’m giving up on them.
