Intel’s 14 nm process still
Intel’s 14 nm process still seems to have issues. I have been checking newegg occasionally and the 6700k is usually out of stock; it looks like it is in stock now, but at $420, which is a bit higher than the MSRP. They do seem to have some supply for mobile chips, but these are generally much lower clock. The lower clocked devices seem to often be in stock at newegg also. The 6600k would perform almost the same for most uses, although a 5820k is cheaper than a 6700k. I don’t know what you lose going with the older chipset since it has more PCIe links available.
