Okeanos Mount Components and Included Accessories

Cooler Accessories

Reeven includes all necessary mounting hardware and accessories needed to setup and install the Okeanos cooler into your system, including fans, motherboard and fan mounting hardware, mount install tool, and thermal compound.

Reveen includes a detailed instruction sheet for installing the cooler, outlining install instructions for installing to both Intel and AMD-type motherboards.

The included mount hardware is used for both Intel and AMD cooler mounting with a universal mounting plate used for both style system mountings. For LGA2011-type sockets, the backplate is unnecessary with the dual thread-ended uprights used to hold the top bracket in place.

Reeven includes an S-bent wrench for tightening the mount nuts and cooler screws in place, as well as a packet of thermal paste capable of supporting multiple mount attempts.

The cooler is held to the board mount top plate with a steel mounting bracket that fits into a channel in the top of the cooler's base plate. The cooling mounting bracket is held in place with top mounted hex-headed screws that can be fixed in place using the included mount wrench or a Phillips screwdriver.

The universal mount plate has mount holes for the uprights for use with the various supported socket styles. Make sure to orient the bottom plate correctly for the socket style to be used.

For Intel sockets, including LGA775, LGA115X, and LGA1366, there are slotted holes in each corner of the bottom and top mount plates. The inside holes are for LGA775, the middle for LGA115X, and the outer holes for LGA1366.

For the LGA115X mounting cage, the uprights fit into the middle grooves in the bottom plate with rubber washers sitting in between the bottom plate and the motherboard. The white plastic spacers sit directly on the motherboard surface, holding the top plate up. The mount is held together with top-mounted nuts through the threads on top of the uprights.

The cooler hold down sits across the center of the board mount, held in place with hex-headed screws on either side of the hold down bracket.

Cooler Mounting Bracket on Motherboard

The Intel mounting cage is designed to allow for mounting the cooler in a vertical (front-to-rear) or horizontal (bottom-to-top) orientation, depending on the orientation of the mounting cage's top plate. In the vertical orientation (which is also the default mounting orientation for the cooler), the mounting cage has no contact or fit issues in the CPU socket area allotted even on a motherboard using a three-side VRM heat sink.

On an Intel LGA115X board, the base plate bottom rests on the socket bottom plate, eliminating direct board contact except for the arms supporting the threaded uprights and the AMD board mounting arms. This design minimizes the potential for contact or crushing of any components in close proximity to the socket base plate, but the universal nature of the mount increases the possible contact area.

On an Intel X99 motherboard (supporting the LGA2011 socket), the Reeven mount has no fit issues whatsoever.

One challenge that the mounting cage design poses to the cooler is the close proximity of the cooler's heat pipes to the top-mount nuts holding the top mount plate in place. The mount nuts come very close to contacting the cooler's heat pipes.

Cooler Fan and Fan Accessories

Reeven included a total of three sets of fan mounts to use the Okeanos cooler in its default dual fan or optional tri-fan configuration. Also included are low noise adapters for both fans, reducing the 120mm fan to 1200RPM and the 140mm fan to 1100RPM. Both adapters are labeled to minimize confusion.

For the front mounted fan, Reeven included their sleeve bearing 120mm fan. The fan is rated for a maximum speed of 1800RPM with a rated maximum airflow potential of 63.8 CFM (cubic feet per minute). The yellow colored fan body sits in a black colored housing with a total of 11 small fan blades. The fan cables are sleeved in a dense, black colored plastic sleeving and ending in a 4-pin PWM-style power connector. The fans is rated to run at 12V, drawing 0.38 amps of power during full speed operation.

For the middle mounted fan, Reeven included their sleeve bearing 140mm fan. The fan is rated for a maximum speed of 1700RPM with a rated maximum airflow potential of 59.8 CFM. The yellow colored fan body sits in a black colored housing with a total of nine fan blades. The fan cables are sleeved in a dense, black colored plastic sleeving and ending in a 4-pin PWM-style power connector. The fans is rated to run at 12V, drawing 0.25 amps of power during full speed operation.
