Corsair has officially released the Carbide SPEC-ALPHA case they were showing off at CES 2016, and this mid-tower is a striking design that offers an alternative to more traditional look of the company's recent Carbide offerings.
The White/Red SPEC-ALPHA at CES
"With its modern, angular appearance, the SPEC-ALPHA really stands out in a crowd. But its looks aren’t all that are modern – the SPEC-ALPHA features native USB 3.0 support, room for up to four SSDs, and a three-speed fan controller for the three included 120mm fans. A large window shows off internal components and the Direct Airflow Path layout, which provides superior cooling by getting rid of unnecessary drive bays."
The inclusion of a 3-speed fan control is definately welcome at this price, which is an attractive $79.99 MSRP. We'll have to wait until we get one in to test to see how it performs, but at first glance it looks promising. Doubtless the look won't be for everyone, but if you look at a lot of enclosures (like someone I know) unusual designs are always welcome!

Really Corsair, that is the ugliest case I’ve ever seen! Must be for a 7 year old!
Corsair started making cases
Corsair started making cases that had simple looks and solid build quality. After that they still kept the simple looks but took a hit on build quality now their cases at best can be compared with thermaltake really stupid looks and cheap plastic and thin metal everywhere with lots of horrible flex. I really don’t understand why did they release this ugly crap even after lots of negative feedback they got when it was first showcased at CES.
Seriously – if you like looks
Seriously – if you like looks of this case, you need immediate hospitalization. Preferably in a room with rubber-foam walls. LOL
What a piece of tat.
This case reminds me of the
This case reminds me of the deformed portal turrets you find later in Portal 2. Also, it’s a pretty ugly case.

I think Corsair’s MO since
I think Corsair’s MO since they’ve gone public is well known. Their first series of power supply’s that we’re made by Seasonic….we’re top notch. If I recall correctly, it was the HXxxxW(IE: HX520W)series. Then the next series…straight downhill. The same with their Dominator ram of the same area. High quality kits with excellent metal spreaders that literally commanded a premium and flew off the shelves. Next comes their cases. First cases…excellent quality albeit they ignored the rise of m-itx after being warned to get an early foothold in the market AND then the quality dropped…and is still dropping today.
Corsair has no interest in giving us quality gear…they have a sole interest in riding on their name to sell you sub-par goods at a premium price.
I used to love this company, but I tossed all Corsair products in the trash and I don’t even pay attention to what they’re doing anymore.
This case is simply ridiculous Corsair, you’ve lost touch with reality and it’s showing – in spades.
It’s NOT all about MONEY. Sellouts.

This case is great. All the haters are just REALLY boring… Would love to see what the majority on here think what a nice case design is. Brushed aluminum is so 2002…
I had a pc built on a test
I had a pc built on a test bench and thought why do I have a pic built on a test bench so I decided to move it into this case and give it to my son. Unboxing, I noticed white paint on the red plastic. I decided to add a third fan to the front and I noticed the screws on the installed fans were too narrow and one side had popped through. The metal mounts appeared to be stretched so I tried to bend it back in place and actually bent the metal worse. In the picture you can see how the untouched fan looks on the right and the damage I caused. Also the feet kind of rock on a level surface.

The larger screw in the pic
The larger screw in the pic is a screw from the corsair 120mm fan I added to the case.
