CPU Cooler Fit & Included Accessories
CPU Cooler Fit
To test the amount of space surrounding the CPU socket, we mounted a Noctua NH-D15 cooler to the CPU socket. Both a overly large CPU air coolers, sporting a dual fan construction and two huge vertical cooling towers.
Noctua NH-D15
With the NH-D15 oriented to blow air towards the board's rear panel, the cooler does not come into contact with any of the memory modules or heat sinks surrounding the CPU socket. The one caveat was with using a video card in the primary PCIe slot. The video card fits (snuggly) without issue as long as there was not an overly large backplate on it. The card would need to be seated in the secondary slot if the back side of the PCB contains large protrusions, however.
The side views illustrate that the memory slot layout is designed to be usable with even the largest CPU coolers, as long as the cooler design adheres to the Intel design spec. The fit between the front fan and the front memory modules could be tight, depending on the fan seat height and memory module heat sink height.
Noctua SecuFirm2™ mounting system
Noctua's SecuFirm2™ mounting system is a good method to quickly determine how well the CPU socket laid out to accommodate a larger cooler. The mount easily fits within the constraints of the upper and lower memory modules as well as the heat sinks to the right of the CPU socket.
Included Accessories
GIGABYTE includes in everything you need to get the board up and running.
GIGABYTE includes a detailed installation guide and user manual, as well as an install disk containing all drivers necessary to get the board up and running. Also included are an Ultra Durable-branded metallic case badge.
The rear panel shield is flat black colored with white text and icons for easy reading and identification of the rear panel ports.
GIGABYTE included a total of four 6Gb/s rated SATA cables for use with the integrated ports. The cables have integrated port locks with a mix of straight and 90 degree port connectors.
For multi-GPU use, GIGABYTE includes a two-way NVIDIA SLI bridge connecter, as well as a single two-way CrossFire bridge connector.

GIGABYTE chose to include two DisplayPort video cables to use the graphics pass-through capabilities of the Thunderbolt 3 chipset. A dual-end DisplayPort and a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable are provided for attaching you primary video card output to the DisplayPort input port in the rear panel. From there, you simply connect you monitor to the USB 3.1. Type C port.

I picked up one of these boards a few weeks ago for a workstation I was building for the office. Very satisfied! Originally intended to use a X99 Sabertooth from ASUS but that board killed itself after setting the XMP profile.
X99P-SLI is great! I did notice however that the packaging apparently had been printed without mention of the Thunderbolt 3 or the 128GB RAM support (which we are taking advantage of). Call it a pleasant surprise.

That’s pretty dumb, with their ultra high failure rates, combined with their bottom of the industry product support, their products have no business, in the workplace. Asus, Supermicro, or GTFO.

The current batch do not support DMI 3.0, not sure if refresh boards with Broadwell-E support will add it or not though…

I don’t get why there is a DisplayPort connector on the back when none of the LGA2011-3 CPUs have video.
I’ve been thinking about going to an X99 system for a few months now, but a majority of the customers reviews sound like they’re too much trouble. BIOS failures, no M.2 boot support, USB hubs flaking out. I think at this point I’ll wait for X290 and Skylake-E next summer.

That’s cool. I have high hopes for Thunderbolt 3 after reading all its specifications. Time will tell if it becomes a success in the hands of manufacturers and consumers.
Dear Readers of the PCper
Dear Readers of the PCper forums
I dont know if it is the wright stanec by PCper not to validat the clames by gigabyte! Taking there clames on fath, dose not inform! PCper we need real evidence that the PCIe port is actually as strong as the clames layed out in your artical.
I propose a scientific approch, namely the use of a single mesurement of “Josh Walrath” Until such time as the single unit of measurement has been used i call that the clames be revoked!
Yours sinisterly,
