Assuming your service provider is not one of those who block Google's patches from coming to you directly you should probably charge up that device, get on WiFi and check your available updates. Any Google device running 4.4.4 or newer, including Nexus devices, will have up to 40 patches to slurp up. Many of the patches are for a vulnerability similar to the previous Stagefright exploit, apps can use the drivers from Qualcomm and NVIDIA to break into the Qualcomm TrustZone on unpatched devices. The Register provides a full list of the patches which are being pushed to Nexus and Android One devices.
"Google has today issued a bundle of 40 security patches for its Android operating system.
A dozen of the fixes correct critical vulnerabilities in versions 4.4.4 of the operating system and above. About 74 per cent of in-use Android devices run Android 4.4.4 or higher."

Do you have to wait hours for
Do you have to wait hours for the updates to show up, like on windows 7 when you run the windows update client. M$’s sure making it a pain and is it to encourage users to “Update” to the new UWP life of serfdom under windows 10! And, after the updates are listed, and those with some gray matter between their ears instead of fat, hide the updates not clearly marked as Security related and install the remainder, does it take another eternity for the download of those windows 7 updates Clearly marked as for security! Most importantly do windows 7 users have to hope that M$ has not done something nefarious to those updates clearly market as for Security purposes!
So Updates are becoming harder and the forcing is getting more intense. Google or M$, it does not matter, give me some devices with a Full Linux and NO closed app ecosystem/walled garden please!
tl;dr: “I turned off
tl;dr: “I turned off automatic updates, and now Microsoft expect me to manage updates myself?!”
I have my updates set to
I have my updates set to notify me, and let me decide! And one tricky dickey thing about that standard Tray Icon(not the Nagware Tray Icon) is to never click on the standard update notification Tray icon or the little help balloon that pops up(never click anywhere in that help balloon’s client area), or windows update will install all the updates without giving the chance to individually review, UN-check, and hide the updates that are the nagware/telemetry gathering nefarious blobs off poop.
Just now! I have again received a notification for the NOW INFAMOUS KB3035583, the nagware that will forever go down in history for its dastardly attack on windows users’ safe harbor(Relatively if You keep a laser eye focused on things) of windows 7(constant vigilance is required)!
Please everyone if you can support the Linux PC/Laptop OEMs and that Linux OS based market, including the Steam Machines, and hope that Linux can get to that magical 5% to 10% OS/Desktop market share that will allow for the Linux based PC/laptop market to achieve that economy of scale for a much wider choice of Linux OS based PC/laptops. There never needs to be a year of Linux on the desktop there only needs to the the year of the Linux desktop OS PC/Laptop market that is large enough to prosper and allow all those that will not ever go beyond windows 7 an alternative come 2020! More Linux?Vulkan games will be on that way, and the larger the Linux OS market share the better, it does not have to be that large to reach a critical mass and free many users from the life of serfdom that comes with windows 10 and its EULA, agreed to under duress by some poorly educated fools!

P.S. Always run windows 7’s
P.S. Always run windows 7’s update manually even if you have you update notifications turned on! Open the start menu and navigate to the windows update link in the all progrems part and run it from there. Stay away from the Tray don’t ever click there or on the “Help balloon”! Watch out for some Security updates and wait for after patch-Tuesday before installing updates! The press is watching M$ more closely after that nagware was pushed out in a security update(Those Bastards in Redmond)!

Windows 10 nagware/telemetry
Windows 10 nagware/telemetry blocking software is becoming a new cottage industry, and an even bigger industry than that!
What there needs to be is other BOOK and Manual reviews on the tech websites where readers can see what is out there from the many authors from the book/instructional manual markets for the top computer books/manuals on the market that the technology website owners/reporters actually use for themselves. I’d love to Know what books some of the PcPer staff members/reporters actually recommend and use in their work for subjects like hardware, drivers, and other PC/laptop devices and benchmarking software.
There used to be more book/manual reviews done on the hardware/PC/Laptop technology websites where the books where actually used and the reviewers actually had PC/Laptop/OS book/technology manuals to review, and that was a much better source than Amazon and other sponsored review sites where they rely only on sketchy “Customer” testimonials nad such. The Brick and Mortar book sellers, new and used, are few and far between now that the market has shifted to the online based retailers. Even lists of favorite used booksellers with plenty of computer PC/Laptop/other associated subject titles from the used bookseller in the reviewer’s home towns/cities or others that they and the readers know about in their towns and cities!
In the northeast US it’s very hard for non students to get access to the college libraries, and the public libraries have become damn near unsafe to go into, for matters of computer security and other security issues.

8 posts so far, and only the first line of the first entry is relevant to the topic – Google Android updates – while serving as the perfect, well-thought-out segway into Ms bashing land.
I agree with just about everything said, and I too will not be going beyond 7; not even for gaming. The developer/publisher of any game relying only on DX12 or that is UWP based, wont be getting my business. I can also identify with those viewing the Windows update process as a big gamble because it has proven to be.
However, the discussion – what little there is of it to begin with – is being hijacked.
Cant say much here as I dont use android for anything serious. There isnt any valuable data on my devices… no contacts, no calendar, no banking, nothing but music, books and tech-related PDFs. Even so, I make sure they’re locked down and relatively secure (firewall, encryption, mic & camera blocking, etc.). This is after rooting and replacing ROMs post unboxing. The above updates arent likely to make a difference in my use case but I’ll get around to them at some point.
Oh poor you! Google sucks
Oh poor you! Google sucks too! So now for some full Linux Desktop Applications for a non closed ecosystem goodness NON Android/TIFKAM(UWP) toy apps ecosystem under any big intrest’s control! FreeTux full Linux OS ecosystem forever!!!! Get bent you fondle slab/Phablet scratching
Numpty heads out there!
>Oh poor you! Google sucks
>Oh poor you! Google sucks too!< Poor me? I dont use Google's apps or services and I alluded to that in my last paragraph, so what exactly is your point? Dont be so quick to evangelize and spread the good news that you cant see when one is in agreement with you.
