Overclocking the new Pascal GPUs can be accomplished with the EVGA Precision X tool as it allows you to bump up the power, temperature target and fan speed as well as the frequencies for the GPU and memory easily and effectively. [H]ard|OCP set out to push the 1070 as far as it would go with this software in a recent review. The power target can only be increased to 112%, which they implemented along with setting the fan to 100% as this is about the maximum performance, not about peace and quiet. After quite a bit of testing they settled on 2062MHz GPU and 4252MHz RAM clocks as the highest stable frequency this particular card could manage. The results show a card which leaves the TITAN X in the dirt and this card does not even have a custom cooler; we anxiously await the non-Founders Edition releases to see what they can accomplish.
"In our overclocking review of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition we will see how far we can overclock the GPU and memory and then compare performance with GeForce GTX TITAN X and GeForce GTX 980 Ti. How high will she go? Can the $449 GTX 1070 outperform a $1000 GTX TITAN X? The answer is exciting."

Is PCPer affiliated with [H]ard|OCP in anyway?
I personally don’t think [H]ard|OCP is the best site to use as a reference for an article, especially how unprofessional their entire relationship with AMD is and after their editor in chief wrote some very strange fanfiction-like article regarding a Raja Koduri-inspired ATI rebellion inside AMD and that Polaris GPUs had failed validation and would clock no higher than 925Mhz~.
I understand that I’m just a drop in the bucket, but I feel like there so many reputable technology websites to base an article on there’s no excuse to use one like [H]ard|OCP.

I would love to see a 1070 fe
I would love to see a 1070 fe for $449 yet alone available.
Fyi the 980 ti classified new is selling for $409 by newegg seller via ebay free shipping.
Lol paper launch is very clever once the premium is shaved off fans will think they are getting a bargain by the millions!
They’re showing up in
They’re showing up in Australia at the equivalent of US$530 before sales tax. It’s a great card, I’ll wait and see what happens to pricing once the RX 480 is shipping.
Nvidia really pulled another
Nvidia really pulled another fast one with their fake $379 and $599 MSRP numbers. Thanks “Founders” edition.
I don’t get why they
I don’t get why they overclock the 1070 and not a titan x or 980 ti .. i mean the 1070 would lose (badly OC vs OC) and we couldn’t have that could we. It would look bad for the new “titan” killer and all and not at all as per the Nvidia review guide recommendations.
Some testing i did shows an OC TX (1520mhz) leaving a 1070 OC (2088mhz) in the dust by 22% at 4k in AOTS .. that’s a thumping in my book.
Seems all NV had to do is set the boost clock higher enough to get 2-3 % ahead of a default TX in the reviews, within an inch of highest OC potential i might add and all of a sudden people are going nuts. Raving about great overclocking when the % gains from the overclocks are on par with AMD cards.
HardOCP should know better, this is not GREAT overclocking – its very average at best.
I was dumbfounded when i
I was dumbfounded when i noticed there was no OC results for 980 Ti nor Titan X. Very common among reviews of the 1080/1070. What is the point of showing the OC results for 1080/1070 but not 980, 980 Ti nor Titan X! Must be something written i Nvidias reviewers guide 😀
Why do you think?
If review
Why do you think?
If review sites don’t show a favorable review to Nvidia, they’ll simply stop sending review samples/stop buying ad spaces.
Yes it’s all fixed and should
Yes it’s all fixed and should be regulated with the companies(AMD, Nvidia, and others) not in control over who gets their review samples! They should have to hire an independent third party to draw random lots for review samples, so AMD/Nvidia/others should not have control of the selection process for review samples! The internet is much like the early days of radio before the FCC/FTC where created to regulate the deceptive ad/review practices.
It’s time to regulate the internet like TV/Radio so the crooks can be stopped! Transparency in journalistic reviews needs to be required, with websites required to reveal any Ad revenues/Business relationship with the makers of the products that are being reviewed!
The technology markets are more cooked than any of the past markets, and that include the railroads, and the Oil Trusts of the past.

Overclocked-to-overclocked testing by other sites (e.g. http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/nvidia_geforcegtx_1070_overclocking/) does not support this.
