Rise of the Tomb Raider in DX12 mode is another dramatic win for the RX 480 over the GTX 970: a gap of 23%. The poor GTX 960 card loses by more than 200%…so there's that. Compared to the AMD products in our testing the new Polaris card is 44% faster than the R9 380 and just 3% slower than the R9 390.

The story is the same in relative comparisons at 2560×1440 though nothing is able to break the 50 average FPS mark.

Radeon RX 480 8GB, Average FPS Comparisons, Rise of the Tomb Raider
  R9 390 R9 380 GTX 970 GTX 960
1920×1080 -3% +44% +23% +211%
2560×1440 -2% +52% +29% +214%

This table presents the above data in a more basic way, focusing only on the average FPS, so keep that in mind.
